The Old Granary is a fabulous barn conversion situated next to Sheffield Park and Gardens and within easy distance of many Sussex attractions. There is a comfortable sitting area in the lounge with a large projection screen available for evening viewing. Entertainment is provided with both Sky television, Blueray DVD and a Sonos sound system. The large dining table can seat up to 8 and would be perfect for celebratory or festive meals. The kitchen is fully fitted with a large electric range, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and a washing machine. The spacious ground floor bedroom has a super king sized double bed (which can be twin bedded on request) as well as its own dressing area with a small settee. The ensuite bathroom has a bath with a shower overhead. There is a second bedroom on the ground floor which has a standard 4' 6" double bed. There is a wet room shower ensuite to this bedroom. There are two individual staircases which lead to the two upstairs bedrooms. One with a super king double and a large ensuite bathroom with a roll top bath and separate walk in shower. The second, first floor bedroom also has a super king double bed, which can be twin bedded on request, and a walk in shower in the ensuite bathroom. Between these rooms is a quirky area with bean bags and a television; a perfect little hideaway for younger guests. Outside The Old Granary, the large garden area is surrounded with trees and the lawned area is ideal for children to play. The terrace has a large gas BBQ available for guests and an outside table and chairs in the summer months. There is an allocated parking area and also a storage area available for bicycles **Please note that there is an open pond in the surrounding grounds so parents of young children should be aware.** Fletching and beyond The Old Granary is located in a wonderful countryside location next to Sheffield Park with its multitude of paths and resting spots dating back to the 18th century. Copses of trees are dotted around the hillside, attributed to 'Capability' Brown and creating the English landscape appearance he was so famous for. The Bluebell Railway is right next door to the gardens at Sheffield Park. It is the preservation of a local branch line and runs north through Horsted Keynes to Kingscote recreating life on a branch line over different periods from the Victorian era at Sheffield Park right through to the 1950’s at Kingscote Station. The historic market town of Lewes is a twenty minute drive from The Old Granary and it is a fantastic place to visit - full of cafes, restaurants and bars. The River Ouse flows through the town dividing it into two areas between Cliffe High Street presented in beautiful period style with its gateway, a paved bridge, crossing the river and the main High Street that heads up the hill. The castle at the top of the town is open to visitors as is the Barbican Museum opposite. It offers a peaceful area immediately off the High Street. In the town’s Southover district is Anne of Cleves House which is also open to the public. It was left by Henry VIII as a settlement in their divorce. Visiting Lewes on the first Saturday of the month is recommended when the thriving Farmers’ Market comes to town with lots of delicious fare on offer! Continue on twenty minutes from Lewes and you will be at the Sussex coast. Visit the vibrant city of Brighton with its lively and cosmopolitan atmosphere or head further east towards the traditional seaside town of Seaford - there is something for everyone here!
