Helen House | The Mount Castle Yonah!

3 Bedroom House in Helen, Sautee Nacoochee

Sept 2023: book 5 weeknights for September stay & 1 is free. If you are looking for an upscale north Georgia mountain experience “The Mount Yonah Castle” is the place for you. Our home has an open floor plan decorated with a mountain & bear theme with a spectacular view!
If you are on a budget consider booking weeknights which are often $100 less per night than weekends during the school year. We will consider 1 night bookings in our slower months or when we have 1 night sandwiched between two bookings.
The master bedroom is on the main floor with a full private bathroom & there are two comfortable day beds in the foyer and great room with a half bathroom in the foyer.
We have a fenced in back yard for those of you with furry children which allows your dogs to roam freely in back when you are out on the patio or on the deck. There is a $100 pet fee which helps pay for extra cleaning and the fence and it must be disclosed prior to your arrival if anyone in your party decides to bring a dog(s). All dogs must be clean, house trained, non-destructive, and on flea/tick prevention medication. We even have a large dog crate at “The Castle” if you need it.
We have a Pack N Play for your infants as well as a booster chair and stroller.
We also have a handicap chair for the shower on the main floor if you have anyone elderly in your party.
Everything except two bedrooms upstairs is on the main floor which makes it easy for anyone elderly. There are five deep wide steps in front to get inside the house.
Our luxury home on beautiful Mount Yonah offers a very special experience! Our home is located in a gated community between the towns of Cleveland and Helen, GA.
Our property is NOT suitable for larger parties or events as we have neighbors on both sides of our property and parking is limited to six cars so you would have to shuttle your guests up to the house.
If you have more than six vehicles you may consider parking at Ingles which is about three miles from the house or Freeman's Flooring at the base of the mountain. The owner, Ricky, has given our guests permission to park there, but we recommend confirming it so his employees are aware of when you may be coming.
If you have multiple families for a wedding or a family reunion there are four other homes in our community with 17 bedrooms between the four homes. However, we cannot express strongly enough that no loud or wild parties are allowed in our community and music can only be played inside the house. We will have to contact you during your stay if our neighbors complain about noise.
The Mount Yonah Castle will capture your heart from the time you walk up the flagstone walkway to the grand entrance to the time you leave with cherished memories of your fairytale getaway. The front of the house is surrounded by mountain laurel and blooming flowers in warmer months. There is a flagstone walkway that meanders around the house to an inviting patio where you can enjoy the view and the chirping birds along with a fire pit and seven person Hot Spot Rhythm hot tub.
The first thing you will notice when you walk in the door is the scent of the cedar siding and the beautiful cherry wood floors. As you walk into the house you will feel the grandeur of the soaring cathedral ceiling in the great room along with the wall of windows and warm stone fireplace. Then your eyes will be drawn to the multi million dollar view in back which looks like a postcard. Windows and high ceilings abound in this charming home with so many extras you will never want to leave. We even have nine foot ceilings upstairs.
The clean and bright white kitchen with white granite counter tops make it a pleasure to spend time in the kitchen. The white washed cottage style dinner table has room for 10 family members and friends for those of you who want to share your rare find on Mount Yonah. There is also a six person table on the deck with patio furniture and two rocking chairs if you prefer to dine outside.
The warm fire in the stone fireplace adds just the right ambiance in the colder months and in the warmer months we usually have candles that add to the charm.
Then relax on the reclining sofa or go out to one of the rocking chairs on the deck to do a little star gazing. It's a great place to enjoy the mountain air and the open sky. The deck is the place to go to enjoy the twinkling lights in the valley below as well as the moon and stars above as the clouds roll past.
The fire pit on the patio has six Adirondack chairs where you can go toast marshmallows or sip some wine by the fire or you can take a relaxing dip in the hot tub overlooking the valley.
If you like ping pong we have a “midsize” ping pong table (smaller than a regular table) you can set up in the great room or outside on the patio, deck or car port. We also have cards, puzzles and other games including a “small” four game table for younger children that is stored in the upstairs hallway closet and can be moved a few feet into the upstairs hallway. It is not designed for older children or adults.
When it's time to retire for the night you are in for a treat as each of the three bedrooms is impeccably furnished with a very comfortable king size bed, whimsical bear lamps and your own private bathroom.
The master bedroom is on the main floor with a vaulted ceiling and sliding glass doors that share that same amazing view as the great room. It has a comfortable king size panel bed and a luxurious spa-like bathroom with a jetted tub with two large windows that looks out at the seven layer long range mountain view. You will feel you are staying at the Mount Yonah Ritz or in a castle in the Alps!
The two spacious bedrooms upstairs have a king size sleigh bed and a king size panel bed with the same comfortable mattress as the master bedroom and they have their own private bathrooms as well. One of the bedrooms upstairs overlooks the mountains in back and the other overlooks the garden and forest.
There is a half bathroom in the foyer for anyone who may be sleeping in the grandeur of the great room or in the foyer day bed. We have a queen size memory foam sofa bed as well as a day bed and a trundle bed with two six foot tall and seven foot long room divider screens to provide some privacy. There is also a day bed with a trundle bed below it in the foyer. The day beds have the same comfortable mattresses as our king size beds, but the trundle beds, cots and pull out sofa are better suited for children or light weight adults. For maximum comfort we recommend no more than nine adults per family or group.
We have three roll-away cots for adults or children that can be set up in a parent's bedroom, upstairs in the hallway or out on the deck for the more adventurous members in your group who may want to try sleeping under the stars!
Please note anyone sleeping in the day beds, cots or pullout sofa bed will have to shower in one of the three full bathrooms attached to the bedrooms as the foyer bathroom does not have a bathtub or shower.
In the morning there is nothing like having your coffee on the deck in a rocking chair or one of the lounges while watching the sunrise come over the mountains. Even storms are amazing at Mount Yonah.
If you like wildlife keep an eye out for the local deer and other critters. We have an abundance of song birds and there are even bears in the area if you are lucky enough to see one.
We have WIFI in the house and Direct TV in the great room and all the bedrooms and three of the four flat screen televisions are smart TV's.
Cleveland is the home of "Babyland General" where cabbage patch dolls were created. Our home is about five miles from Helen and it is about 15 miles to Dahlonega. Both towns are known for their vineyards and weddings. We are about 20 minutes from the Dahlonega square which is the site of the first US Goldrush so it has an interesting history which you can learn about at the gold rush museum in the town square and it is the southern most part of the Appalachian Trail. It is also the home of "the Holly Theater" which puts on very professional live plays and musicals.
Helen is just five miles away. It is an alpine village known for Octoberfest, river tubing and it's scenic beauty. There are a lot of festivals and vineyards in the area as well as several state parks including Uniqoi in Helen, Vogel State Park near Dahlonega and Amicolola Falls in Dawsonville.
We have several eating establishments in Cleveland and Helen. Our information book has a list of restaurants if you want to review it upon your arrival.
If you want to take some day trips you can ride the Blue Ridge Railway in Blue Ridge or just walk around the town as there are many interesting shops. Brasstown Bald is the tallest mountain in Georgia and is about a 30 minute drive from our home.
This is a great place to have celebrations for up to 9 adults and 11 guests total if you have children.
We are located on a dirt and gravel road and it is one mile up to our home. You do NOT need a four wheel drive vehicle to get to our home and there are no steep drop off's. However, we are located on a mountain so you may want to bring a SUV if you have one.
We do NOT recommend our home for guests on motorcycles or guests with motor homes or trailers unless you arrange to pay for a spot at the base of the mountain at Yonah Mountain Campground.
We book up fast so we recommend you book early if you want specific dates. Come experience “The Mount Yonah Castle”!

Summary: I was looking for a home large enough for a family vacation and yet allow privacy for guests. This house was perfect. Three large master suites with their own bathrooms was the reason I booked this home. Also, the location was close enough our other sister and her family were able to drive up from the Atlanta area and spend a day. The two grandsons ages 3 and 5 loved the large house. The large open floor plan, outside deck, fire pit area and hot tub were an added bonus. We enjoyed soaking in the hot tub, sitting around the fire pit, playing games on the large dining room table, cooking meals in the fabulous kitchen ( I wish I could move it to my house). As for the view…words can’t describe the beauty of the ever changing sky, from stunning sunrises, to breathtaking sunsets, rain brought a Rainbow that spanned across the valley and mountain range. Beth was so kind to allow my brother to bring his senior dog,Otto loved his morning walks. We saw dear, bunnies and too many birds to list. The location is great for visiting Helen, which we did several times. Beth was very responsive to any of our needs. Making memories with family was priceless. Thank you Beth for sharing this beautiful home.
