The Mermaid House is located near the beautiful sandy shores of Lake Michigan in Northern Western Michigan. The home is located 0.4 miles from Lake Michigan. It is a straight walk down the street. There is deeded access to a private Lake Michigan beach just south of the public county beach called Cedar Point Park which has a parking lot. Renters may use either beach. You can walk for miles on the beach in either direction. The private access beach has 84 steps straight down and Cedar Point park has about 54 steps with a partial flat bridge walk way down. The home is located within 1 mile of Silver Lake sand dunes to the south and approximately 7 miles from the town of Pentwater to the north. There are many wooded walking/hiking trails and lots of activities to do in the area. There is a large un-lanscaped back yard with an attached children's play set to the deck off the kitchen. The play set is old but it’s still sturdy. The nearest towns for grocery shopping is in Hart and there is a quaint grocery store in Pentwater. There are numerous summer activities available nearby and winter activities include hunting, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing. The larger town of Ludington is just 20 minutes north off highway 31. Ludington offers many great dining options, summer beach activities and Ludington State Park with miles of sand dunes and Big Sable Lighthouse. The Little Sable Lighthouse is located within the Silver Lake State Park. The private beach has some beach chairs available for use and they will be labeled as the Mermaid House on the beach to the right down the stairs of the private access which is a walk straight down the street. There is a gas grill on the deck off the kitchen. The home includes clean linens on the beds and kitchen cooking supplies. There are some books, games, and a DVD player . There is also a fire pit/ring in the front yard. The home is located in a wooded neighborhood with approximately 10 other homes on a dirt road.
