The Hermitage is situated on the scenic Black Spur at Narbethong. It is a lovely 20 minute drive from Healesville and Marysville is only 15 minutes away. The Hermitage sits on 32 acres and was built in 1894 by renowned photographer J.W. Lindt. It is a remarkable series of buildings and is heritage listed. The house has been improved over the years to make it more comfortable and functional. The house has so much olde world charm and beauty, the setting is idyllic. Quote from a traveller in April "Absolutely stunning property and enchanting house" The Hermitage accommodates 8 people comfortably, there are also two extra beds if you don't mind sharing. Bed 1. Downstairs: Queen Bed and a King Single Bed 2. Upstairs: Queen Bed and a King Single Bed 3. Upstairs: Queen Bed Bed 4. Upstairs: 2 King single beds All beds have electric blankets. Linen is supplied for your stay. Towels supplied for your stay. There are two bathrooms, one upstairs and one down. The kitchen is fitted out with the following: Dishwasher Gas stove and oven Microwave Coffee machine, with coffee supplied All the necessary items are provided to make your stay enjoyable and fuss free. There is a kitchen table and chairs in the kitchen area as well as in the dining room. Everyday condiments, tea, coffee, sugar, dish washing products, tea towels are all supplied. The lounge and dining room are very spacious for a group of 10 people, the dining table seats 10 and there is plenty of seating for everyone to be comfortable. There is hydronic heating downstairs and also a wood fire in the lounge to keep you cosy. We have an abundant supply of wood for your stay. The upstairs bedrooms all have electric heaters. The house remains beautifully warm, is spacious and enchanting. The garden has many outstanding trees and there is plenty of bird and wild life around the property. Lindt who was friends with Von Mueller (designed the Botanical Gardens) is said to have helped Lindt plan the garden. Take a walk and smell the fresh mountain air with the scent of eucalyptus, walk up to Cathedral Lawn to view the mountains and further on discover the amazing 300 year old Mountain Grey Gum and natural spring which supplies the property with water. On warmer days sit under the 100 year old grapevine whilst enjoying a meal. There is a lake on the property which is not 100% securely fenced, it is approx 100m from the house. There are two gates and some fencing leading to the lake, children would need to be well supervised. Should you wish to venture out, the towns of Healesville (20 mins) and Marysville (10-15mins) are within easy driving distances. Visit Lake Mountain in winter for a snow experience. There are bountiful walking tracks, four wheel drive tracks, trout farms, and majestic scenery to make your stay at The Hermitage one to remember.
