A beautiful rustic cottage situated in the heart of the Adirondacks right next to picturesque St. Regis lake. This is the perfect place to rest and relax after a wonderful day of kayaking or hiking St. Regis mountain. With 5 bedrooms you'll have plenty of space to accommodate a large group. You'll find all the amenities you'll need including high speed internet, WiFi, TV and a fully equipped mini kitchen. Only a short drive from grocery stores, restaurants and all the essentials you'd need to make your stay in the Adirondacks a memory that you'll cherish forever! When you book the Christmas Cabin you'll also get access to these other wonderful properties. The Trapper Cabin The Trapper Cabin is a replica of the cabins used by the pioneer trappers of the Adirondacks. This was inspired by the mythical, Malachi and his wife Shining Star, who occupied this cabin and the many stories of their romance, their first child Morning Star and how they lived off the land by hunting and fishing. It’s traditional on the first morning for guests to have breakfast in the Malachi and Shining Star Cabin. A wood stove is used to cook breakfast and to heat the cabin on cool days. The Tepee The Tepee is another unique building you’ll have access to. The tradition is to have dessert after dinner in the Teepee. There is comfortable seating inside the Teepee. A drum is passed from person to person as they send a message to any one they love by selecting a drum beat. This is an authentic Teepee built by present day native Americans. It’s also used for storytelling and formal tea events. The Lean-To We have dinners and small parties in the Lean-To using the fire pit to make smores, baked beans and bacon in the big black iron kettle. Back in the old pioneer days families lived in Lean-to using animal skins to close the open area. With families living this way even in winter. This lean-to is a special log cabin with increased height for dining. The Canoe House is used to store and launch canoes or Kayaks.The building has a boat ramp for launching canoes or kayaks and a roof covered dock that can be used to dock several boats. The entrance door is on the north side of the Canoe House. Inside the Canoe house you can open the two garage doors with the opener switches that are just inside the door on the right. Facing the lake, with garage doors open, the dock on the left facing the lake has a large swimming platform that you can swim to. The platform has an anchor to keep it in place while you’re swimming. Please do not move this swimming platform. When boating, swimming from the platform, or using the beach, please use life jackets. Adult supervision is recommended wherever children are swimming in the lake. The sandy beach is located to the right of the Canoe house when facing the lake. If you rent boats they can be kept at the Canoe House docks. All other docks are for the use of guests of the Castle. The Canoe House is constructed with beautifully rustic cedar bark and includes a dining table and chairs. The doors on the lake side can be raised giving you a gorgeous view of the lake while you sit at the dining table. You’ll have a beautiful view of the lake, Birch Island and St. Regis Mountain while you enjoy your meal.
