Unquestionably one of the most dramatic locations on the entire South Shore of Nova Scotia. Property includes the entire tip of the Rose Head peninsula (2,400 feet of ocean frontage) and features spectacular cliffs, islets, juniper meadows, a pebble beach, sea caves and a mesmerizing ocean gorge where breakers explode against the rock face some 80 feet below the cliff top. Your own private hiking trail skirts the ocean's edge with scenery every bit as stunning as that found in a provincial or national park. There's even a single lone pine tree on a rocky outcropping reminiscent of the often photographed scene from Pebble Beach, California. The house itself is perfectly situated on one of the property's highest points and boasts breathtaking 360 degree views of the open Atlantic, Kingsburg Beach, Rose Bay and the coastline extending up to Peggy's Cove. Completed in 2006, this spacious and airy house includes an array of custom designed elements, architectural details and sweeping ocean views from every window. The first floor features a soaring entrance atrium, a glass-enclosed dining space that looks directly down at the crashing surf, a fully equipped kitchen, a Nantucket style living room and an entertainment center. The second floor features a master bedroom with a queen bed, 2 skylights that capture planetarium-like glimpses of the night sky and a private deck that literally hangs over the ocean as well as 2 other cozy bedrooms. The house also features 2 side terraces with Adirondack chairs and a barbecue, a basement with a ping pong table and a one-of-a-kind lighthouse style tower that rises almost 50 feet off the ground and offers 360 degree views "to die for". Our unique location (the tip of a peninsula) makes it ideal for bird and wildlife watching. Frequently spotted from both inside and outside the house are whales, sharks, dolphins and seals. Our private nature trail tracks the ocean's edge around the peninsula where you're likely to see eagles, hawks and owls. Two beautiful sandy beaches are a stone's throw from our house. The picturesque villages of Lunenburg (1 of 2 UNESCO World Heritage sites in North America), Mahone Bay and Chester with their art galleries, craft shops, restaurants and historic sites, are all short drives away. Peggy's Cove and Halifax are an hour away. After a fun filled day spent hiking, sight seeing or enjoying the surf, be sure to have a cocktail in our tower and watch the spectacular sunsets over the bay.
