Stay in our truly authentic scuffed and weathered quintessential kiwi bach, 4mn walk to the beautiful Tolaga Bay beach and river, shops, pub and cafes. Iconic building in Tolaga Bay, modernised and comfortably furnished, fully heated in winter, fully equipped, up to 4 bedrooms (three in the bach, one in the adjacent self contained cabin) with good clean bedding and electric blankets provided in winter, renovated contemporary large kitchen and bathroom, super friendly hosts. This is a comfortable and super clean old family bach where everyone is very welcome, however if you are expecting to stay in a motel style accommodation please book elsewhere. The large private garden has a laundry/storage building, a third toilet facility, lots of fruit trees which can be picked in season, deck, bbq and outdoor furniture. There are a couple of cafes in Tolaga Bay or get back to basics and munch on fish and chips on the beach bought from a choice of eating out options. Safe swimming, kayaking and good fishing from the beach at the end of the street or further at the wharf. Launch your boat from the ramp behind the house or hire a local charter for tuna, snapper, terakihi, bluenose and kingfish. You can even swim with the dolphins on a lucky day. Try your hand at feeding wild stingrays (under the supervision of a guide at Tatapouri). Surf the local beach break with a short fast wave, good for surfers of all levels, better for more experienced surfers. Hunting, historical tours, bowling club, golf course, skatepark and bush walking all within easy access. Gaze at the milky way, wake up early so you can be the first to see the dawn, or stay indoors wrap yourself in a book from the bach intensive selection, listen to the ocean crashing waves or the absence of man-made noise, let the world carry on without you and appreciate a very relaxing holiday at its best. ACCOMMODATION DETAILS The main house has three bedrooms including a main bedroom with a king size bed and a sofa bed, also available on request is a baby cot, the second bedroom has a queen size bed and the tight bunk room is fitted with a single over a queen bed. The adjacent self contained, wholly equipped cabin with ensuite toilet/shower is available at an extra cost and can be configured with either twin beds or a superking bed. The cabin can be rented as a fourth bedroom together with the bach or on its own for a cosy nest on a budget. The bach and the cabin will not be rented separately to different groups at the same time to respect privacy. The booking guests have their own private access and key. The entire property including gardens are available for the booking guests sole use. NOTE: There is a single night seasonal supplement of NZ$20.00 per stay (does not apply if staying two or more nights). Discounted rates are available through our own website - The Black Bach, Tolaga Bay. Ask for our Winter rates for 2 people which start at $60 for the cabin or $80 for the bach per night. Long term rates, large groups and contract/crew rates are also available. Minimum stay of 7 nights for 23 Dec ~ 6 Jan and 3 nights for Easter. Shorter stays may be accepted by negotiations. PETS: Pets/dogs are not accepted by right and pets stay are negotiable on request at the time of booking. The property is fully fenced and private but dogs can escape if they are so minded. Please note that pets are NOT allowed in the bedrooms. If they sleep on your bed at home, then stay at home. Otherwise we welcome responsible owners who follow the rules and clean after their dog. Our cleaning fee automatically applies to booking with pets to vacuum extra hair and to sanitise the premises after departure. No pets will be accepted after the booking has been confirmed (no matter how well behaved or loved the owner claims it to be). WiFi is free, available on request, and be mindful that it is sometimes limited due to remote location. It is the responsibility of the booking guest to ensure that the wifi at the property is used for legal and reputable purposes only. If there is any illegal usage, the booking guest will be held fully accountable for this illegal action & any resulting fines, administration & reconnection costs will be charged to the guest. WHAT TO BRING: The bach is self-catering, this means you need to bring your own necessities including toiletries, soap, shampoo, washing powder, toilet paper and all food including cooking oil, condiments etc. There are two fridges and two freezers to store large supplies for big groups. You also need to bring your own sheets, pillow cases, towels, hand towels, and tea towels unless hired from the property (see below). Pillows, duvets with covers, and blankets are provided as standard for each bed. There is a coin operated washing machine for your convenience. If you do not wish to bring your own, the house linen can be hired at NZ$12.00 per person and includes bed linen, bath towels, bath mat, hand towels, and tea towels. The property will be presented with beds made, ready for your stay. Please contact your host if you would like to hire the linen, the fee system on HomeAway doesn't currently support per person linen rates. CLEANING: We do not charge a compulsory cleaning fee and thank you for being respectful and considerate. Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to do your dishes, maintain the house tidy and clean and leave the house how you found it before you go. At the end of your stay a departure linen service, standard housekeeping and sanitation is included in your booking. Extra charges will apply where additional cleaning, BBQ or oven cleaning or excessive rubbish disposal is required. An optional cleaning of $90 per stay is available for a more thorough clean allowing you to finish your stay with that relaxing holiday-feel intact. THE SMALL PRINT: The entire property is made available to one group only on a per-person basis and only for guests that form part of the booking prior to arrival. In other words, the booking is valid for the number of occupants listed on the booking (occupancy limit) at the time the booking was made. Guests must not exceed the occupancy limit or change the group configuration on the confirmed booking. If extra persons or any changes are required, the booking guest must get in touch with the hosts for approval in advance so as to ensure the booking remains valid. Breaching occupancy limits will occur a $35 charge per extra person per night for the total duration of the booking regardless of the number of nights of actually stay, up to the maximum number of persons allowed to sleep on the property regardless of the number of beds available. The host is entitled to take back possession of their property should the occupancy limit be exceeded without being communicated to the host and agreed in writing.
