Tall Pines Escape is a gorgeous luxury chalet located on the beautiful western backside of Crystal Mountain in a lovely Norway pine forest. It is 2500 square feet in size and features 4 bedrooms (plus a "bunk room" above the garage), 3 bathrooms, a game room in the garage, and a finished basement with a den and a ski room! Includes free seasonal shuttle service to Crystal Mountain! A gas fireplace, A/C, Wi-Fi and 3 televisions with digital streaming are also included!
The chalet is less than a 5-minute drive from Crystal Mountain Resort. There is a seasonal shuttle to Crystal Mountain that starts December 1 each year. There is also a short walking path through the woods to the resort. It is about an 8-minute walk to the resort.
Crystal Mountain Resort is a fabulous year-round destination resort with lots of activities available! These include both downhill and cross-country skiing in the winter along with ice skating and trails for snow-shoeing. In the summer, there is an outdoor pool with a children's play area, alpine slide, two 18-hole golf courses, an art-walk trail, mountain bike trails, tennis and pickleball courts, a ropes course, climbing wall, and even archery tag! There is also a wonderful spa with an indoor pool that is open year-round! Note that there are fees for all of these activities.
Outside of Crystal Mountain, there are a number of spectacular places to visit in the area that are less than a 1-hour drive from the chalet. This includes the charming little town of Frankfort on Lake Michigan and its fun and very family-friendly beach on Lake Michigan. The world-famous Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is also nearby with a myriad of hiking trails, bike trails, and spectacular views of the dunes, Lake Michigan, the Platte River, and all kinds of nature! It's also great fun to go tubing or kayaking down the Platte River through the park. Fishing (particularly for lake trout and salmon) is also very popular on Lake Michigan, the Betsie River, and the Platte River. The nationally-recognized Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course is also just a short drive away as is Crystal Lake, one of the largest and most gorgeous inland lakes in Michigan.
If the attractions of a bigger city are desired, Traverse City is only about a 1-hour drive from the home. It is the entertainment, dining, shopping, art, and financial center point of all of northern Michigan and it features a vast array of culinary, shopping, and entertainment options!
The chalet features 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, dining area, a den in the basement, and also a really fun and convenient ski room in the basement with its own exterior entrance. One of the bedrooms is on the main floor, two are upstairs, and the fourth bedroom is in the basement. There is one bathroom on the main floor, one bathroom upstairs, and one bathroom in the basement. Each of the 3 bathrooms are full bathrooms!
In addition to the 4 bedrooms, there is a bunk room up above the detached garage. Up to 6 people can sleep in the bunk room, with 2 queen beds and 2 twin beds in the bunk room. The twin beds are upper bunk beds, each with a queen-size bed below. The twin beds are close to the ceiling and are not really suitable for adults, so the bunk room can really only handle a maximum of 4 adults. This bunk room has a space heater for winter and window A/C unit for summer. The 2-car garage itself has been converted into a game room with a ping pong table, air hockey table, and a game table.
It is possible just to walk or take a shuttle to Crystal Mountain, but, to really enjoy all that the area has to offer, it is highly recommended that guests have their own vehicle.
Please note the following regarding the property:
(1) The property has an indoor hot tub, but it is not working and is not included with the rental.
(2) The home can sleep up to 16 people, but we strictly limit the number of adults to no more than 10 adults.
(3) There is parking for up to 3 vehicles in the driveway. It is recommended that guests do not bring more than 3 vehicles.
(4) The garage is not heated, so it may be difficult to use the game room in the wintertime.
