On the shores of beautiful Lake Erie your FUNtastic vacation retreat awaits you. Our extensively renovated and fully furnished beach house is ready to become the setting of your most treasured vacation memories. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath, year round home can accommodate up to 8 people and boasts over 1600 sq ft of well appointed living space including two full bathrooms to ensure privacy and comfort for all. Our fully equipped kitchen, which includes full size stainless steel appliances, dishes, cutlery and utensils, will allow you to prepare all of your own meals during your stay, or just a few here and there, between visits to Leamington & Kingsville's award winning eatery's and restaurants. A wood burning fireplace for those cool fall or winter nights and 60 feet of private beach complete with a fire pit means you'll want to bring the marshmallows no matter what time of year you visit. Our winter guests will most certainly enjoy snuggling up by the wood burning fireplace to enjoy a glass of wine and a movie perhaps with panoramic views of the lake from the main living area. For our more adventurous guests, ice fishing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing through Point Pelee Provincial Park up the road are just a few of the many winter activities to be experienced during your winter stay. Summer guests are going to wish they had booked longer as you will be hard pressed to enjoy all that Sunset Point Beach House and Essex County have to offer in a single stay during those warm mid-year months. 60 feet of sandy beach out your back door with a large lakeside deck will keep the party outside for most of the day and well into the evening with a bonfire on the beach and a beverage with new friends you met earlier in the day. If you can manage to pry yourself away from the property for a day or two, Essex County's renowned wine tours are a must for those who enjoy the grape. With approximately 20 local wineries being home to numerous award winning wines, touring the vineyards and partaking in the wine tastings makes for a day well spent every time! Day trips to Pelee Island, Ceasers Casino or Point Pelee Provincial Park (within walking distance of your beach house) all make for truly enjoyable outings and are sure to provide unforgettable experiences. With a 60 ft lot, please feel free to use all grass areas on each side of our home as we own the open areas on both sides of the house (lot lines are essentially a foot away from each neighboring home). Update Sept/2019 - Due to unusually high water levels within the Great Lakes, including Lake Erie, the distance between the deck and the water's edge varies daily with the worst days (strong winds out of the south) eliminating the exposed beach and bringing the water level up to our retaining wall. You still have access to the lake on all occasions, however you're may be entering the water at ankle level in some cases. Additional Info: - Birders welcome - This home is non-smoking, however patio doors leading to a large deck by the lake provide for a wonderful spot to enjoy a cigar and a scotch. - All bedding, wash cloths, hand towels, hand and dish soap, toilet paper and paper towel are provided and included in the cost of your stay for weekly bookings. Simply bring your clothes, toiletries, bath and beach towels and relax! - No Pets are permitted. Update 2020: Just wanted to provide a quick update and heads up for those who have not seen recent media reports. Lake Erie levels, and levels within the entire fresh water system for that matter, are at all-time highs. This has caused a significant amount of flooding and erosion throughout the entire region. We’re lucky in that our home is still far enough away from the lake that there are no flooding issues. That said, we’ve had some nasty wind storms over the past 3 or 4 weeks and substantial erosion over the spring which has forced us to add some shoreline protection to our cottage. We’ve had to install armour stone rocks along the waterfront of our property to prevent further erosion and protect our home as the lake levels are at extreme highs and have completely eliminated much of the beach on most days. Keep in mind that the water has literally stripped almost 6’ of sand over the past year and a half and the depth as you move away from shore changes daily, so please be cautious. Considering the curve ball mother nature has thrown us, we’ve decided to purchase an annual park pass for Point Pelee National Park (just down the road from us) where there has been far less erosion. This pass will be available for your use to enjoy the Park beaches and amenities free of charge (just display it on your rear view mirror on your way into the park). While we can’t control mother nature, we will continue to make every effort to provide the best experience for our guests and we thought the complimentary park pass would be a great alternative. If you decide to use the pass, please leave the pass in the basket beside the fridge when you depart, otherwise we will have to deduct the cost to replace it from your security deposit refund ($150).
