If you're looking for fresh ocean air, an abundance of birds and fish, no crowds, and a quiet expanse steps from the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Sunrise Point vacation home on Cedar Key is calling.
At the end of the secluded island of Cedar Key on Florida's Nature Coast, Sunrise Point sits on an acre of partially wooded land with ancient spreading cedars, large live oaks, and palms. The beauty of this tidal property is memorable: dolphins frolic in the water just offshore and you might spot an occasional shark or West Indian Manatee. Drop a line in the property's "fishin' hole," and you're likely to pull out a redfish for supper.
A short stroll from Cedar Key's private airport (you can arrange a golf cart for transportation while you're here with one of the golf cart rental places in town), Sunrise Point faces the rising sun in a quiet residential neighborhood of about 10 homes. With 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths, the home is outfitted with all the amenities for an ideal escape: a spacious newly rebuilt dock for fishing and relaxing, 2 kayaks, 5 bicycles, a Tesla charger in the garage, internet, Smart TV, a well-equipped kitchen, and a new washer-dryer. Pets are welcome for a nominal fee!
The spacious grounds surrounding the home are beautifully landscaped with tropical plantings, secluded gardens, ancient cedars and irrigated lawns. More than half of the property is surrounded by the bayou and the Gulf of Mexico. Daily the tides inundate the lower areas of the property where Spartina Grass and Black needle rush grow wild. For the safety of our guests, outdoor cameras are installed. There are no cameras inside.
There's an expansive living room with a big-screen TV, separate den with a desk and TV, enclosed sunporch, and a dining area that seats eight. Large windows create waterfront views across the entire back of the house.
Three bedrooms comfortably sleep 8 with a master with king-size bed (large bath room and walk-in shower), a second bedroom with a queen bed, and a large third "bunk room" with 2 sets of bunk beds, each with a full on the bottom and a twin on top. A half-bath is across the hall. All towels and linens are provided.
Surrounded by 13 uninhabited islands The Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge is the place to discover nature at its finest, whether kayaking into a tidal estuary or fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. Clams brought fame to Cedar Key, and they're served in nearly every restaurant in town along with the famous Cedar Key oysters and fresh Gulf shrimp. There's no shortage of bounty from the sea. (The popular Cedar Key Seafood Festival takes place the third week in October each year.)
Off the island and nearby are beautiful first-magnitude springs, including Manatee Springs and Fanning Springs State Parks, with springs that produce an amazing 65 million gallons of fresh, clear, 72 degree water every single day. Swimming and snorkeling are year-round activities.
The night skies along the nature coast of Florida are some of the darkest anywhere in Florida due to the absence of city lights, and stars shimmer with incredible clarity on clear nights. The constellations shine brightly over the house and grounds, a must-see while you're here.
