3 Bedroom Cabin in Kinderhook

This is a cute, fully furnished cabin that was built in 2004 and an addition of the same space that was in the original cabin was added on and completed in 2015. It now has 1,120 sq. ft. of living area. It is approximately 20 minutes from Hannibal, MO; Quincy, IL and Pittsfield, IL. Springfield, IL is about 90 minutes from here and St. Louis is about two hours. Any of these places can be reached by taking I-72. It is also very close to Barry, IL where you can purchase groceries, gas and enjoy small town restaurants, Wendy's or Subway. The cabin has a galley kitchen with a full size range, refrigerator, microwave and plenty of cabinets. All of the general kitchenware is provided, i.e. plates, cups, glasses, silverware, pans, coffee pot, electric skillet, etc. We try to keep it stocked with dishwashing detergent, paper towels, dishcloths and dishtowels. The dining room area offers a table with four chairs with casters, two comfortable chairs, television, VCR/DVD, and a radio. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, toilet and vanity. Towels, washcloths, hand soap and toilet paper are normally provided. There is a loft with three twin size beds - two extra long and one regular length. Sheets, pillows and a blanket are provided. This is accessible through the master bedroom, but there is a ladder for emergency exits from the loft to the dining room. There is a porch on the front of the cabin where you can sit and relax and enjoy the country air and scenery. Recently added is a larger living room with a recliner, twin day bed and sofa bed that makes into a queen sized bed. There is also a washer/dryer in the closet in this large room. Up the stairs from the living room is a bedroom with a queen sized bed that gives a beautiful view of the Pike County Valley below. You can see for several miles from the windows of this room. You will often see deer and turkey grazing in the fields. It is preferable that you access the loft from this room, making it easier to monitor family on the other side. But if privacy is key, you may also lock the door between the two areas. Down the trail, Hadley Creek flows through Sun Valley Farm from east to west. You may wish to fish for a variety of species. Kids and 'Kids at Heart' may go wading or make sandcastles along the bank. Walk the trails to take a stroll through the woods along side Hadley Creek. If you are quiet and watchful, you will most likely see deer, rabbit, turkey, squirrel or other wildlife during your stay. The adventurous and/or athletic may enjoy a hike to the top of our Pike County Mountain for a scenic view of the valley. Sun Valley Farm has been a member of the American Tree Farm System since 2000 and is enrolled in the Illinois Acres for Wildlife Program which preserves and enhances Habitat for Wildlife. It has been family owned since 1962. Nestled beside the cabin and up from the creek is a mowed area providing outdoor dining equipped with picnic tables, charcoal barbeque grill, and fire ring. Firewood is available for a nominal charge. Guests enjoy watching the powerful Norfolk Southern Railroad as it pulls freight through the broad valley heading to far away destinations.
