"The human spirit needs places where nature has not been rearranged by the hands of man..." Author Unknown This is it !!! This log cabin style rustic lodge is made from rough sawn long leaf pine trees fell by my uncle's own hands !! My family built this house with handmade hewn beams squared most often using just a broad axe - transforming round tree trunks into square beams. This old-fashioned process is what gives hand hewn beams their trademark roughness and left this lodge with it's sense of simpler times ! It's perfect for family getaways, reunions, romantic weekends, fishing trips, hiking, mountain biking and photography. Also makes a gorgeous wedding venue. Quiet, private property literally surrounded by the Angelina National Forest and just minutes from Lake Sam Rayburn with miles of private hiking/biking trails on leased forest land. Cozy,yet spacious, lodge from which every window affords an amazing view of the forest. Fish cleaning station with outdoor plug and water hose nearby for boats. Secure parking onsite for boats/trailers. Additional cabin available for rent for extra guests. House has open concept fully equipped kitchen. Dining room table can easily sit 8 people. Satellite TV with sports package. Master bedroom with comfy full size bed has romantic ambiance,fireplace and spacious bathroom. Second bedroom also has a small fireplace with 3 twin size beds and comes complete with toy box and separate bathroom for the kids. For extra sleeping space - newly renovated SEPARATE bunkhouse located just behind the lodge available for $20 a night. Air conditioned and furnished with quilts and brand new pillow top mattresses. Sleeps 2 in 2 twin size ADULT HEIGHT bunk beds with juveniles on top bunk in provided pallets and sleeping bags. WII with 3 controllers in the bunkhouse for fun ! For an additional fee of $20 a night. Extra large back deck with fire pit and gas grill. Hiking /biking on private trails and hunting (in season only of course!!) right out your backdoor in the Angelina National Forest. Fishing and boat ramps just minutes away on Lake Sam Rayburn. Cassell Boykin County Park & Boat Ramp is 15 min away; Shirley Creek Boat Ramp and Jackson Hill Marina both 10 mins away from the lodge.Sam Rayburn lake is the largest man made lake in the state of Texas. With nearly 750 miles of shoreline you will find many areas around Sam Rayburn Lake to have a picnic, launch your boat, do some fishing and enjoy the lake. Other things to do in the area are bird watching, nature hiking, historic tours of the local towns, and scenic drives around the lake. Date nights about 30 min away in Lufkin as well as Ellen Trout Zoo which is acclaimed as one of the finest small city zoos in the nation. SFA University provides botanical gardens, arboretum, sports, museum and the acclaimed azalea trails. Texas history abounds as well as wonderful quaint shops and antique stores in Nacogdoches. For a wedding venue, there are several natural areas on the property you can choose for your wedding ceremony depending on the number of guests; which the property can accommodate up to 75, but its also perfect for a smaller more intimate event. Rays of sunshine peek through the trees, creating the perfect lighting for stunning photos in both the morning and evening.
