Summer Joy is a one level Nantucket-style beach cottage that sleeps up to 4 (2 in master, 2 in great room on captain's beds) and sits 20 feet from the water’s edge on beautiful Green Bay. Perfect for a couple or small family who love to relax by the shore. Summer Joy has been rejuvenated, adding modern touches at every point yet maintaining the character of a Nantucket-style beach cottage. You have a complete kitchen and outdoor grill for dining under the sun and stars. The comfortable open great room with its high wood ceilings and wood burning fieldstone fireplace add to the livability of your cottage. The cottage is simply and tastefully furnished, with plenty of natural light and color. You will find the basics you will need to be comfortable, without too much clutter. There are cathedral ceilings in the great room and partial cathedral ceilings in the bedroom and kitchen. Panoramic views and spectacular sunsets…your cottage is right there...where land meets water! Experience the 180 degree view of the land across the waters of Green Bay. You can see part of the Village of Sister Bay coastline, Little Sister Bay, Horseshoe Island, Peninsula State Park, Chambers Island, and Sister Islands. On clear nights you can see the lights of Marinette and occasionally a glimpse of the lights of Escanaba, MI. Enjoy most of these same panoramic views from your great room as well as wake up to some of the views from your master bedroom Summer Joy is a must for anyone desiring more than just a beautiful water view. Enjoy the sight and sound of water along the shore. Watch sailboats glide by your patio. Swim, float on an inflatable, kayak and sailboard from your rock shore. Summer Joy is part of the Northern Lights Property... The Northern Lights Property is 100’ wide by 800+ feet long and faces west; it begins on Beach Road and goes all the way to the water. Northern Lights consists of three vacation residences. Beginning at Beach Road, and “only 20 feet” from Beach Road, is the Carefree Guest Studio. The Guest Studio is where the owners will vacation for the next few years. About 400 feet down the bluff the lot levels off somewhat for about 100 feet; then the lot drops down to the rear of Windsong (vrbo listing 571419 as of 3/28/14), where it levels again – then gradually slopes about 140’ feet to the shore. “Right” at the water, two feet from the northwest property line, is our one bedroom Summer Joy Beach Cottage (vrbo listing 482130). Windsong is about 125 feet away from the corner of Summer Joy. You’ll see in a picture that Windsong is about 6 feet higher than Summer Joy and more in the center Inspiration for the name Northern Lights was the result of viewing the aurora borealis from our dock in the 1990’s. We have owned Northern Lights since 1988, renting Summer Joy for the first time in 2013 and Windsong for the first time in 2014. Eventually the Carefree Guest Studio will be available to rent during all seasons.
