Stylish modern studio situated on 7 gated acres, surrounded by rolling hills, featuring a stunning 60’ lap pool and outdoor lounging and dining area! The grounds are lush with mature oak trees, fruit trees and a pergola on the upper terrace with outdoor seating affording spectacular sunset views. The interior of this modern open studio features exclusive furnishings, a queen-size bed, 2 sofas, 55" TV, bistro table, two builtin workstations, kitchenette and full bath with walk-in glass shower.
The well-equipped kitchenette includes both a Nespresso machine and a K-Cup coffee and tea maker, milk frother, microwave, toaster oven, double and single hot plate, slow cooker, Instant Pot and full-size fridge.
Beautifully decorated interiors by two former corporate executives of Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn and West Elm, including custom fine art painted exclusively for the property. We fondly refer to the property as Great Oak because of the dozens of gorgeous oaks on the grounds. Rental guests often comment on how private the compound feels across its 7 acres with few homes in view and yet only minutes from both Sonoma and Glen Ellen. If you love hiking and biking, Cavedale Rd. is an 7 mile long artery crossing from Sonoma into Napa. Or, simply sit back and relax in a truly rural setting with spectacular views of the Valley of Moon, uniquely framed by both the Mayacamas and Sonoma Mountains...truly one of the best locations the wine country has to offer.
We live on the property. The guest studio was specifically designed to face away from the main house in order to afford guests the privacy you deserve. The guest studio is also attached to the garage so on occasion guests may hear the garage door opening/closing.
The lap pool is shared with the owners. When guests are present, we limit our use of the pool to our daily laps and try to do so when guests are out exploring all that Sonoma and Napa have to offer. The pool is not heated in the off-season.
We have 2 friendly Gordon Setter dogs (Tobi 5 years old and Nikki 4 years old) that roam the property and may come over to visit. If you are uncomfortable with dogs, or they are in any way bothering you, please call/text us and we will make sure to keep them with us. It is not a bother at all, so please don’t hesitate to let us know. Also, when entering or leaving the property, if you could take care and not let the dogs out. If you see them out and about when arriving at the gate or upon leaving, please call or text us so we can bring them in. Otherwise, they will make a run for it if the gate is opened.
We have been actively renting Great Oak as a vacation rental since 2017, with a 5-star rating. It was previously managed by Turnkey/Vacasa. Sadly, ratings and reviews cannot be carried over when switching to self-property management, but below are copied ratings and some sample reviews.

Gorgeous property and fantastic location for exploring Napa and Sonoma. That pool and those views - perfection!! The kitchen was very well-appointed, and we cooked in many nights and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. The owners and their dogs were lovely, and it was a pleasure meeting them. I stayed here as a bday treat and can’t wait to go back - this is an incredible property, beautifully designed guest house - and an immaculate private pool. Also the valleys views are stunning!

My wife and I stayed here for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Not only is the house beautifully decorated and maintained, but the property itself is absolutely syunning. It made for a relazing and calming weekend. John and Oliver, the owners, are awesome. They were so welcoming and kind and we felt like we were visiting old friends. The photos do not do it justice. Highly recommend for a romantic getaway.

If you want to experience a completely beautiful and peaceful environment with the best energy, then definitely consider this place. I am hesitant to rate them so highly because I will definitely return and don’t want it hard to book. If you don’t enjoy this place, you should stop traveling!

Our second visit was just as enjoyable as we remember our first in 2022. Tobi & Nikki (the two Gordon Setters) made for great playmates for our dog again and the pool ambience was exactly the rest & relaxation we were in need of. The perfect dog friendly get away.

One of the best [vacation rental] stays we ever had! A real gem! The paintings were interesting and done by the owner himself. Pool was beautiful aesthetically and the water temperature just right. The property itself is very well maintained. Lounge was a great place to just chill and take in the view. The two dogs on site were very friendly and our kid loved them. Owners were very gracious. If you’re looking for a luxury retreat in a more private locale, this is it! Would come back in a heartbeat

The whole estate is expensive and gorgeous with mid century architecture, the interior is artsy and sophisticated and after the long day we enjoyed the sunset views and large heated pool. We also appreciated the sustainable thinking through out the property.
