The villa of Casabianca di Barontoli is a stuccoed house overlooking the Val di Merse and the Montagnolo mountains with a brick farmhouse attached to the back but which is also an integral part of the building. There are, therefore, 2 kitchens and 2 sitting rooms and is ideal for a large family or 2 travelling together. It has just undergone a 2 year restoration with every aspect of the interior designed to the highest specification: floors are traditional terracotta tiles, windows double glazed. The light and airy rooms are exquisitely furnished with antiques and Persian carpets. It is on 2 floors, looking out across a valley to a distant view of mountains and onto vineyards, olive groves and the garden. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and there is an underfloor cooling system throughout. This switches to underfloor heating in the autumn and winter. The whole house has WiFi, even on the terraces and there is a study with computer, fax and printer for the use of guests. There is a huge and eclectic collection of books ranging from thrillers to tomes on philosophy and other such erudite subjects. Each bedroom as well as the sitting room has a bookcase. Outside are several different terraces offering a choice of eating/sitting areas. Lunch can be eaten in the shade of the ilex trees and supper on the lower terrace with the fabulous view of the Val di Merse. The house is set in a beautiful garden and has a large salt water pool with fabulous views over the valley. There is even a small kitchen garden with courgettes, tomatoes and all fresh herbs. The private pool, which arguably has the best views from the property, is heated during the months of April, May and October. It has internal and external lights so provides lovely night-time bathing. We also have 8 hens which provide the most delicious eggs every day. The house is 7km south of Siena and 1 mile from a village with a wide variety of shops and restaurants. Nearest airports are Pisa and Florence and the sea at Castiglione di Pescaia, is a 1h drive.
