A massive stone house on 5 very private acres in a great central location! This rustic Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired house was hand-built by Frank Garske, a local stone sculptor, archer and desert adventurer. With large windows in every direction, this home is a delight for those who appreciate good architecture, featuring massive Douglas fir cantilevers and stone piers. Centrally located near Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriet's and the Integratron. You will feel like you're in a museum in this rustic hand-built house that is made of locally-quarried stone and tile floor throughout, massive Douglas fir wooden beams and glass windows all around. The Great Room has a fireplace, gas stove heater, swamp cooler, Cal King bed, couch and trundle twin beds. An upstairs en suite loft has a double bed, full bathroom and outdoor patio with an exterior mosaic. The kitchen has a breakfast nook, large refrigerator with filtered water/ice cubes, electric stove top, convection oven, microwave, coffee maker & coffee bean grinder. Pots, pans, utensils, plates, mugs, glassware and grill tools are provided so that basic meals can be prepared. The pantry & fridge are stocked with basics such as condiments, tea, coffee, herbs & spices, etc. The kitchen is open to the dining room with a table that comfortably seats six. There is an outdoor patio that is completely enclosed within the center of the house, open to the sky, with a propane grill, patio table and chairs - a wonderful, very private space to spend your evenings watching the sky, protected from the wind. And there is a hot spa inside a glass room with privacy and mountain view. The main bathroom is off the Great Room with an Egyptian mosaic. The floors throughout the house are tile, concrete or stone. This house was hand-built by Frank Garske, local archer and sculptor. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's design principles, the stone walls throughout this home are massive, and the giant cantilevered wood beams on stone piers are like nothing else in the area. Large glass windows in every direction allow you to see through openings in the stonework, and outside to the Joshua trees and beyond - to Mt. Gorgonio on the western horizon and up to the stars in the sky. The house is nestled up against a hill and surrounded by healthy Mojave desert habitat and wildlife. A short walk up to the top of the hill reveals an expansive viewshed of the Morongo Basin. Guests have access to most of the house and all patio areas surrounding the house. The guest areas include the Great Room, Kitchen & Breakfast Nook, Dining Room, Interior Patio, and second floor Loft. The interior patio has a propane grill, and there's a second-story patio off the loft, and the north- and west-facing sides of the house are patios. Parking is adjacent to the house. Guests may walk around the 5-acre parcel and up the hill for a great 360-degree view. A wrought iron gate marks the entrance to this secluded property. This 5-acre property is in healthy Joshua tree habitat that is very private. There are many places to sit inside or outside, and there is a propane grill on the patio. The neighborhood is quiet with views in every direction. The Mojave desert habitat surrounding the house includes ancient junipers, Joshua trees and many of the critters one might encounter in the Mojave desert. Its a short hike up to the top of the property, where you'll have an expansive view of the Morongo Basin. We do ask that exterior doors be kept closed for the safety & enjoyment of all guests (i.e., critter management).
