The Rosebud is nestled on the shores of Big Rideau Lake, along the Rideau Canal (a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE site) only 10 minutes from Westport, 90 minutes from the Nation’s Capital, 45 minutes from Kingston, equidistant from Toronto and Montreal (3 hours), and 40 minutes from the Thousand Island Border Crossing at Alexandria Bay. Fabulous country markets, art tours, musical events, theatre, restaurants, historical sites, and site seeing are closeby! The Winking Rosebud Retreat can accommodate 30 people very comfortably between the Main Lodge, the Guest Cottage, Annex, and Boathouse, offering 28 beds over 12 private sleeping spaces. The Winking Rosebud boasts a million dollar, a spectacular waterfront with deep crystal clear water, a 50-foot dock with swim ladder, a raft and waterslide, a beautiful inflatable island, and 8 boats for your enjoyment (canoe and kayaks). The Main Lodge is infused with Peruvian flavour, adorned with art, a gorgeous stone fireplace, Tiki bar, a fabulous kitchen with Professional Gas stove, every appliance imaginable (including a dishwasher, washing machine & dryer), an Endless Pool with hydrotherapy jets and swimmable current, an Infrared Sauna, a 52” inch screen TV, a foosball table, a Tickle trunk, hundreds of games, DVD’s, books, a lovely screened in porch, a barbecue, and beautiful expansive decks overlooking the water. Other activities include fishing, boating, waterskiing and wakeboarding, volleyball, horseshoes, biking on the great country roads, and hiking on the 75-acre Private Wildlife Reserve. The 4-bedroom Guest Cottage has a fully equipped second kitchen, a hot tub, and a full laundry room. The Annex and Boathouse offer additional sleeping offering privacy and comfort for all! Cancellation Policy: A cancellation made by the Renter shall be in writing and addressed to Winking Rosebud Retreat at PO Box 101, 5000 Sherwood Road, Portland, ON, K0G 1V0. Cancellation can also be emailed and will be considered accepted once a confirmation reply is received. On receipt of such notice of cancellation, we shall endeavour to re-book the holiday accommodation for the period of the original booking. If we are successful in rebooking the holiday accommodation for the entire period originally booked, we will refund to the Renter all monies paid (whether deposit or full payment has been made) less an administration fee of $100.00 per period booked. If we are unable to re-book your holiday accommodation, then all monies paid by the Renter will be forfeited. The Winking Rosebud is located on the Big Rideau, recently declared a UNESCO heritage site. It enjoys a spectacular location on Murphy's Bay, with a breathtaking view of the lake. There is over 300 feet of shoreline with deep crystal clear water, a fantastic place for swimming, boating, and fishing. The Winking Rosebud Retreat includes an 80 acre private wildlife reserve with mixed deciduous and evergreen forest with trails for walking, hiking, mountain biking, or cross-country skiing. The waterfront a gradual walkout on a shale bottom with no significant drop-off. The water depth is approximately 8' at the end of the 50' Main House private dock. There is a swim raft with a water slide that is a short swim away. The Boat house is at waters edge and is included with rental of the Main House and Annex. It has a second story with a 10'x20' deck overlooking Big Rideau Lake with a queen sized bed with a picture window overlooking the lake (and an incredible view of the night sky) and a set of bunk beds. It also has a mini fridge, microwave, couch, TV, DVD player, coffee maker, etc. Beside the Boathouse is a small beach (approx 25' wide). All night long you can hear the loons!! The Winking Rosebud Retreat is happy to provide contacts for caterers in our area. Although we don't provide motor boats (w provide kayaks and canoes), we encourage you to contact our local marinas to reserve a boat that suits your needs. Similarly, although we don't offer horseback riding, we are happy to connect you with those in our area that do. There are all kinds of festivals and country markets in our area, art tours, wine tours, boat tours, history tours, theatre and music events, fabulous restaurants, and incredible country stores to find treasures typically unavailable in metropolitan areas.
