The cottage is within the Marquess of Anglesey’s private Plas Newydd Estate. The current Marquess’s father gave Plas Newydd to the National Trust in 1976 and it’s now one of the top places to visit, right on your doorstep. The Marquess has granted guests permissions to explore much of the estate (beyond the NT boundary: your host Nina can tell you all about these exclusive trails. Solstice Cottage is surrounded by hundreds of acres of estate Park and Farmland and some of the most spectacular scenery the UK has to offer. These behind the scenes strolls around this private estate are available exclusively to those renting cottages from the estate. DRIVEWAY Solstice Cottage is at the end of a long winding private drive and set within Bryn Celli Ddu Farm (an active working farm). The drive can be very bumpy after heavy rain, please take this into consideration when booking. THE FARM Being next to a working farm, you may glimpse in passing the essence of a real rural farm. However please be responsible, stay well clear and respect the country code as the farm can be a dangerous workplace with working plant machinery and a completely separate entity to the cottage. Although they're incredibly friendly, please offer them the same privacy they’ll offer you! DOGS Well behaved dogs are very welcome. To help cover additional cleaning there we ask for 30 GBP per pooch. We also ask that the child gate is kept installed on the stairs so they remain downstairs at all times and are also kept off the furniture. SHOES & BOOTS We ask guests to wear slippers or indoor shoes, leaving the soil where it should be. The full house underfloor heating and thick carpets should be more than enough to tempt out those toes. We ask that this is an absolute rule upstairs and on rugs.
