Situated in the heart of the Valley de Belleville is the picturesque village of St Marcel which is a stones throw from St Martin de Belleville. The property is 10 minutes by foot ( 800meters) or a few minutes by car and accessible by free ski bus, which takes you directly to the main ski lift where you can access 600kms of skiing, renowned to be one of the largest ski areas in the world. This area provides a great variety of slopes of all difficulty levels, encompassing Saint Martin de Belleville and the skiing stations Les Menuires and Val Thorens. With 600 slope kilometres and 200 ski lifts spread over an area of 1400km2, provide best requirements for a versatile and relaxed skiing vacation, especially around Saint Martin there is a wide variety of beginner and practice slopes for starters and ski students. The resort of St Martin de Belleville and newly installed fast lift St Martin 2 gives you easy access to the 3 valley area of, Meribel and villages, Courchevel , La Tania, La Praz, Les Menuires, Val Thorens and Orelle, frequented by beginner and expert skiers.
You can also weather permitting ski back to the house off- piste via well know easy off- piste tracks.
However if you ski off- piste we strongly recommend you ski with a guide who will be aware of the snow, weather conditions and the level of risk.
The breathtaking mountain location which retains its traditional charm in this protected zone, offers rural French life at its best and boasts of the Famous 3 Michelin star restaurant La Bouitte (this restaurant is 2 minutes walk from the house), the Chapelle de notre dame and access to many walks and 28kms of cross country ski tracks also known as ski du fond are very close by. Starting from the car park in St Martin de Belleville, cross country skiers can visit hamlets of St Marcel, Chatalard, Paranger and Bettix.
This traditional Savoyard house built in 1870, arranged over 3 floors, is situated in the historical part of St Marcel. The property has recently been completely renovated using quality and local materials. Because of the stairs and log burner the property is not suitable for young children. Summary: We stayed with two families and really enjoyed it. Nicely renovated old house and big enough for 10 people. The only thing is that you have to take a shower in shifts to prefent showering with cold water. To acces the Saint Martin de Belville skilift took a walk of approximately 15 minutes. There are busses to Saint Martin de B. or Les Menuires, but you can't rely on them.
