Sir Walter’s Hideway is a secluded venue on The Manteo House property in the heart of the social district of Downtown Manteo. This historic waterfront property is the Evans Family Homeplace, initially built in 1870. While the Hideaway is tucked away & separated from the house, you’ll enjoy the sanctity & unique experience of being in the heart of Manteo. Walk the docks, quaint streets, explore the town’s shops, restaurants, & historical offerings. Then walk to all of your newest favorite places!
The space
Park steps away from your entrance. Walk up one flight of inside stairs to a well-lit studio that sits above the garage with water views of Roanoke Marsh's Lighthouse and Shallowbag Bay. Queen size bed, ceiling fan, full kitchen, dining for two, full bathroom with shower/bath combo, a couple additional seating areas, and flat screen TV with view from various areas of the studio.
Guest access
Guest has access to all areas of studio with exception of locked owners closets. In addition, there is a bench with bay views, backyard, and breezeway patio to provide some shaded outdoor space.
A few toiletry items, coffee pods, and some prepackaged snacks-perfect for breakfast-will be in your studio to get you started for your stay!

The Parlor - located in the main house is a popular location to host artists, musicians, comedians etc. During your stay you may be able to take advantage and purchase tickets for such an event happening next door or at the very least walk a few more steps to The Pioneer Theater for a varied line-up of events and happenings!
