Summary: Stopped in here for a one night stopover enroute to Marloth Park, selected due to high reviews score. A secure spot. Sue and Belinda went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed, from catering to a (sort of) vegetarian, to extra blankets for a nippy night. Whilst the building is an historical one I feel the interior could do with a makeover - the main dining/social/pub area is quite cluttered with a strange mix of decor that does not appear to relate to either South Africa, Shamrock Arms as a name, nor the railway history of both the town and the building. Considering how cold it was on the night we stayed I was disappointed that none of the fireplaces were lit to add to the atmosphere. Also disappointed that given South Africa's dire state of electricity supply, the rooms had electric blankets and aircon/heating units. Personally I think some updated bedding (think scrumptious duvets and hot water bottles) would have been a better investment. Plus the towels we had, although they looked great, turned out to have holes in them.
