This is a guest room separate from the main house known here in Ponderosa as 'The Aspen Ark'. Since it faces a large meadow surrounded by Aspen Pines. This is an unusual architectural masterpiece built in the 70`s, then known as 'The Bear Cave' The room is not a cabin but is a very private guest hotel style room adjacent to the main house. There is a microwave, toaster oven, mini fridge and coffee maker. A step above camping with a full size bathroom, giant shower, nice king size bed and sofa. Dishes and utensils are available in the room. Very private since the viewing areas are on the opposite side of the property looking into the Sequoia National Forest. Located at the top of the Sequoia National Forest mountain and in-between Quaking Aspen Meadow and Peppermint Creek Campground, this retreat is only 3 1/2 hours from Los Angeles. This is a mountain meadow guest house . Activities include Cross Country Sking ( with rentals available) Sledding, Snowmobiling, ATV, Fishing, Hiking, Hunting and Mountain Biking on the famous Nelson Trail with hiking through several giant sequoia groves.Freeman Grove Trail is walking distance from the cabin and 5 miles to Trail of 100 Giant Sequoias, and only 30 min from The Stagg Tree( the 3rd largest tree in the world)This is a guest house cabin located adjacent to the owners home at the end of a culdesac with forest access on three sides. Very private with access to Needles Lookout just behind the property, Freeman Grove, Dome rock, Peppermint Creek and The Golden Trout Wilderness! One hour from Kernville with river rafting! If you want to escape the crowds at the park and still enjoy 38 giant sequoia groves then this is the perfect destination. You may also want to come here after or before a day trip to the park.
