Positive: The hotel is in a beautiful historic building, right in the middle of Fort Kochi. We were there for New Year’s Eve, and we could reach the festival grounds easily on foot. The beach, shops and sightseeing are also easy to reach. The room was furnished with taste and was clean. The bathroom is spacious and modern. The whole hotel is shoes-free: you leave them outside on a rack. The terrace on the rooftop is also very beautiful.
Negative: The room is really small: it was difficult to fit in with two big suitcases. The owner is nice but was probably quite overwhelmed and didn’t seem very enthusiastic to welcome the guests. Maybe some additional staff could help him run the place: since the rooms are not really cheap, we expected better service. On New Year’s Day no breakfast at all was available. The owner told us that most people wake up late and he didn’t want to prepare for it. Since breakfast is included in the room price, we’d have expected some kind of replacement, or some food available in the kitchen at the very least. When we had breakfast the next day, it wasn’t rich either: only some very basic food was available. It’s a pity, since the terrace has plenty of space and a good breakfast would make the experience very nice.
