Sea The Bay is a large 4 bedroom waterfront home * Gorgeous bay views of Chesapeake and Mobjack Bays * Two acres of land surrounded by water * Private pottery throwing lessons in home studio * Fully stocked gourmet kitchen * Kayaks and bikes available * Swimming, Fishing and crabbing right off your private pier * Located in historic Mobjack Village According to local folklore Captain George A. Philpotts built the house in 1897 for his new 17-year-old bride. She would not relocate to Mathews unless she was given a proper home. Its architecture is reminiscent of the traditional two story historic homes found throughout the area built by local shipwrights from Mathews County. You arrive in Mobjack along an unassuming road after passing an old country store and driving along a tree-lined lane with views of agricultural fields and the East River in the distance. The first surprise is seeing a concentration of magnificent early 20th-century buildings of all shapes and sizes, including a church, country store, dock, and marina. Mobjack Bay extends off into the hazy horizon, and the reason for the village appears clear – these are the homes of watermen, entrepreneurs, and their families. The surrounding waters are the lifeblood of this quiet place. Come and enjoy the tranquil nature and quiet quality of life in Mobjack while watching the breathtaking waterfront sunrises and sunsets from your dock or front porch. Take a walk around Mobjack and imagine arriving here by steamboat on its passage from Norfolk to Baltimore in the not so distant past. In just a short boat ride you can visit the New Point Comfort Lighthouse and the Chesapeake Bay beaches. Bring your power or sailboat and dock or anchor in front of our home while you enjoy your fresh fish or crabs that you can catch right off the pier. The home is a great base for day trips to Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, Virginia Beach or Busch Gardens. There is a wealth of nature that surrounds you at SEA THE BAY. You will have first hand experiences with numerous sea birds including bald eagles, egrets, herons, and ospreys. Fishing is superb just off your pier with plentiful Rockfish, Croakers and Speckled trout. We have kayaks available that you can launch in front of the house and bikes to use for touring our quaint village. You will have access to the entire home, pier and 2 acres of property.
