Our villa is a luxurious, spacious and airy 5 bed villa (plus study bedroom) with a gorgeous pool and dining area in a secluded setting, ideal for 10-12 guests (with the study room) and just 15 minutes from Palma. It is a particularly individual property, named Sa Taulera for the many tiled roofs - the site it is on was used to make traditional Mallorquin roof tiles before being converted into an extensive family home. The picturesque surroundings are covered with a mixture of pine and oak woodland and provides and idyllic setting and convenient location making it a great base for tourists looking for a more relaxing area to stay. The Villa is set into the mountain and is within walking distance of the unrelenting beautiful, peaceful and tranquil village of Puigpunyent, which is situated in the Serra de Tramantana, the backbone of Mallorca, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site within close proximity to Palma. The Villa and the village offer a fantastic base to travel the island, walk in the mountains and hike through the countryside. The Puig de Galatzo offers walkers a challenging but rewarding climb with breathtaking views, and cyclists find the ease of access to the many mountain routes an advantage. Puigpunyent also has the nature park ‘La Reserva Puig de Galatzo’ with is 2.5 million meters of unspoilt countryside to explore, the Bodegas Son Puig family vineyard who offer tours and wine tasting by appointment, and the many different beaches across the island can be reached easily, by car (our own favorites places (beaches, restaurants etc.) are provided to all our visitors). Palma town, with its spectacular cathedral and old and new town shops and walks, is within a 15 minutes drive by car or bus from our villa. The village itself offers a welcome escape from the many tourists that flock the popular beach areas, and our mountain village home provides a cool and fresh retreat in the summer when the lower areas of the island offers little respite from the intense heat. Puigpunyent plays host to many festivals throughout the year, one of which is the music festival in mid-August, which is growing in popularity. Despite being small, Puigpunyent has plenty of culinary options for coffee and/lunch at local café’s and restaurants that provide a mixture of traditional and local cuisine as well a the 5 star restaurant in the Son Net and firm favorites like the Rose Restaurant offering European cuisine lunch and dinner. Since it is largely residential, the restaurants and shops (chemist and supermarkets) stay open throughout all seasons. It has a cute village town hall with play area for children plus and a local swimming pool open to the villagers as well as the magnificent Grand Hotel Son Net a short walk and 4 minute drive from our house. The villa has a wonderful feeling of space have been created with several large rooms on different levels, making family holidays and those with friends a place to truly relax and unwind. We have an indoor and outdoor dining area that seats 10 easily, 12 is possible. Our kitchen is equipped with a huge array of cooking utensils and cutler, both melanine (for outdoors) and china plates and serving dishes and both glass and plastic (for outdoors) glasses and has 2 dishwashers and two fridge freezers (one of each is in the utility room next to the kitchen). It has 5 en-suite bedrooms, 2 Master bedrooms, one with a Superking bed, the other a King, and 2 other bedrooms with King beds – one quadruple bedroom with 2 King beds, and another King bedroom. The 5th bedroom is a double bed and leads out to the pool area. Our Study room gives us an additional bedroom with its King sofabed. The terraces around our villa are extensive and very private with a 10m x 4m swimming pool for the exclusive use of guests. The property also boasts a traditionally roofed gazebo (outdoor lounge) with TV – the perfect place to relax in the shade with a cool drink. This outside space is ideal to gather for an aperitif before going out for dinner or enjoying a lovely meal, BBQ or Paella by the pool in the atmospheric lighting of the Villa by night (the pool also has lighting). The trees, mountain and the stunning Son Net hotel that lights up at night, provides a striking backdrop for a perfect balmy evening. (We have two Weber BBQ’s, a gas and a coal one and a paella ring for the use of our guest. We also have a Weber firepit which can be fun to light in the evening). Mallorca Ecotax (Tourist Tax) Mallorca require all tourists to pay the Tourist tax, in cash, on arrival at the villa. The cost is between Euro 1.1-2.2 per person over the age of 16 (the price is dependent on the season) Additional Fees: 1. Re: Study as a bedroom: The cost is Euro 150 per week (it is a King sofa bed - no ensuite) 2. Cots: Cost is Euro 60 per week if guests staying number has been reached. 3. Pool Heating: We charge Euro 200 per week for the pool heating. You are unlikely to need this in the height of the summer - July and August.
