Located along the tidal Bear River, we have created a unique design of camp cottages, which combine upscale camping accommodations, gazebos, and an exceptional view of the tidal river. The rise and fall of the Bay of Fundy tide, combined with the various species of birds, the hardwood hills, the delightful sunsets, the salt/fresh water marshes and the slate river banks are all inspirational to an artist's retreat. The cottages were individually designed by &FRANK& of Germany, and feature intricate design details that delight all those who see them. They are situated close to the riverside for intimate views of the tidal flow and birdlife. Watch the bald eagles soar above you as the tide comes in. Walk on the bottom of the river to study the incredible rock formations along the river banks, search for fossils and distinctive flora. Three cottages are now ready for rental, as well as ten campsites each with its own fire pit and view of the river. The bath house is conveniently located to all areas, with two showers and two bathrooms. Launching facilities are on site for those who want to bring their own canoe or kayak and a trip on the river is both spectacular and educational. Also nearby is the Bear River First Nations, Oakdene Center, with a variety of artist studios, and three restaurants. The geographical aspect of Bear River is unique. Nestled in the valley between two steep hills, it is divided by the ever-changing rise and fall of the river. Bear River is rich in the history of the shipbuilding tradition of Nova Scotia. Here, schooners and square rigged vessels were built in the numerous shipyards and sailed with their cargo around the world. Once a thriving seaport town, Bear River is now renowned for its natural beauty and the many artists that make their home here. Also on the Millyard Recreation grounds is a common area building that features a farmer's and trader's market every Saturday in the summer season. A free space at the market is included with the fee of a cottage or campsite. In addition to our camp cottages, we also offer a 28 foot RV, complete with running water, electricity, coffee maker, cookware, kitchen utensils. Space sleeps 4 comfortably. Outdoor space includes deck and gas bar-b-que. Private location among the trees, along the river. We are located approximately 20 minutes from Annapolis Royal, the first settlement in Canada in 1604. There are wineries, golf, theater and a host of outdoor activities near by and yet, our quiet location on the Tidal River in Bear River is known for its peacefulness. We are within easy driving distance from some of the Worlds best Whale Watching. Also, Upper Clements Theme Park and the town of Digby, home of the World famous Digby Scallops and a very large scallop fleet. This reservation has a Firm cancellation policy - refunds will be issued up to 60 days prior to the check in date. A 100% refund is provided for travellers cancelling at least 60 days before check-in. A 50% refund is provided for travellers cancelling from 30 to 59 days before check-in.
