Summary: I'm really struggling with how to review our stay at Casa De Oro. In some areas it was definitely 5 stars. In other areas it was definitely 1 star. Overall, I'd say it averaged out to 3 stars. The description as a private romantic spot was just what my husband and I needed for my cancerversary celebration. We planned to hike in the mornings, then come back for lunch and to relax on the patio together in the afternoons. Unfortunately, the owner had some plans that absolutely disrupted our experience and made our stay incredibly frustrating instead of the relaxing vacation that we needed. She inundated us with rules and info before we arrived and was adamant she see us before check in to tuck us in. She had construction on the driveway all day one day, then a garage sale all day the next two days. We had none of the privacy we expected based on the listing, but I don't believe it is normal for this location. The host lives in the 2nd floor of the house and was prepping for the garage sales/moving late into the night, which made it impossible for us to sleep/relax. However, she was very kind and allowed me to order an amazon package to the house, and she was very understanding when we accidentally left our really good food in the fridge when we were trying to rush out before the start of that days garage sale. She moves out of the upstairs soon and the entire house will be available. I think it will be a great spot then.
