Welcome to River Stone Lodge, A 3 story Alpine house situated on over half and acre of Alpine woodlands at the base of Mount Buller. Only 2 km from the Mount Buller Entry gates and 2 and a half hours drive from Melbourne. River Stone Lodge is in the perfect location for so many attractions, Skiing and snow boarding during winter, amazing dry fly fishing in summer, four wheel driving and motorbike riding to Craigs Hut and the Alpine national Park and the many bush walking tracks that start very close to the lodge. We are also a short drive into Mansfield with its many events and Markets, the perfect starting point for world class Mountain biking and bush walking. Our property is quiet and cosy and ideal for family groups and weekend get aways. We have a rumpus room for the kids on the upper level and a lovely sunken lounge room with fire place on the main level for the parents to enjoy a glass and relax.
The Lodge is frequented by beautiful King Parrots and Crimson Rosellas and if you are an early riser you may see eastern Grey Kangaroos, Deer and our friendly wombat that lives at the back of the Lodge!!

Looking for a true Alpine experience?, The smell of Fresh Mountain air? The sound of the rushing River? The warmth of a crackling fire... River Stone Lodge has this and more....
This large spacious Lodge has been built nestled cosly into the side of the mountain surrounded by large Mountain Ash trees, as you walk down to the front door from the road above you truly feel like you are walking into your own private mountain hideaway.
The lodge has three levels to explore from the large loft room with games and Bar, to the main living with sunken lounge and fire place with cathedral ceilings, all bedrooms are fitted with Rinnai heaters to keep you warm.
Year round Activities:
Winter Months Ski and Snowboard Mount Buller and Mount Striling, these two mountains offer fantastic Downhill and cross country terrain, there is a shuttle bus that leaves from the Mirrimbar General Store located only 4 minutes away, chains can also be hired here if you wish to drive up the mountain.
If skiing isn't your thing, Mansfield with it's many fantastic coffee shops, gourmet food outlets, Pubs and retail shops is only a short half hour drive away.... or stay home at the lodge and watch a DVD with a nice glass of local Delatite red!

Four Wheel Drive paradise:
River Stone Lodge is the perfect starting point for day trips to High Country icons like Craig's Hut (from The Man From Snowy River ) head up Mount Stirling and into the upper King River or head less than 1km from the Lodge to Doughtys or Carters roads to find endless tracks to Huts and Rivers.
Fly Fishing:
River Stone Lodge is situated right in the middle of some of Victrorias best High Country fly fishing rivers, names like the Howqua, King and Delatite Rivers all close by ( Delatite only 100 meters from the lodge's back door! ) These Rivers are full of fit wild Brown and Rainbow trout that eagerly take a well presented fly, Summer dry fly fishing is sensational, all information on local rivers and fly fishing tactics are at the Lodge, books, DVD's and special local hints to help you on your way. Lake Eildon is 40min drive away, with Goldern Perch, Redfin, Murry cod and Trout to catch.
Mountain Biking:
Mount Buller and Mount Stirling host of the National Mountain Bike Championships has many cross county and down hill tracks and there is a shuttle bus from Mirrimbar General store only 4 minutes drive from the lodge to take you and your bike up the mountain.
Food, wine and Motorsport:
Mansfield and district has many food and wine events, from the Picnic in the park in March, Tour de flavor bike rides and concert, check Mansfield council Web page for many more similar events
