Riversong is a beautiful 3,500 + sq. ft. retreat centre in the Cowichan Valley on the Koksilah River, and which is surrounded by mature forest. The river widens in front of Riversong, and provides a beautiful private swimming area and beach. The main lodge has a large living room area with soaring ceilings and a gas fire, and a large dining area which comfortably seats twelve to sixteen people. The deck outside, which overlooks the river and forest, seats up to twenty-four, and also has additional comfortable furniture for lounging, reading, and napping. Inside, there are board games and puzzles, and a large selection of DVDs plus Netflix & Prime for your use. There are three double bedrooms, two loft bedrooms, plus a two-bedded yoga studio/bedroom There are three areas, allowing for separation of space: a one-bedroomed self-contained Cottage, the Lodge, and the Chalet. The space is very adaptable, so Riversong can hold eight people and feel the perfect size, or expand to hold 17 comfortably. There are some great camping sites, if you want to spend a night by the river, or in the trees. The beds are comfortable single beds, but some can be joined together to make up king beds. There are also two sofa beds and high quality airbeds for maximum flexibility. There is a large very well-stocked kitchen and a BBQ on the large sunny deck, which faces west towards a provincial park and overlooks the river. The easily accessed private beach area and large swimming hole has grassy verges, a beach area, and large river rocks for lounging. The water is gentle during the summer months, and becomes fuller and very interesting in the other seasons! Bald eagles, otters and trout are just some of the wildlife you're likely to see. In summer, there are inflatables and kayaks for relaxing and play, and adirondack-style beach chairs and a hammock for comfortable lounging. The house is on nearly 11 acres of forest and green space. Close by are the Shawnigan Lake and Koksilah Provincial Parks, Shawnigan Lake Village, the Kinsol Trestle, and miles of trails for walking, hiking and biking, including the Trans-Canada Trail. Only 45 minutes from downtown Victoria, and less than 30 minutes from Duncan and Cowichan Bay, Riversong is perfectly placed for day-trips for sight-seeing or shopping. Wineries and golf courses are all just a short drive away. This is a perfect place for a small or large family holiday or reunion, a 'friends' weekend', a meditation/yoga retreat, workshops, a small custom wedding, or a company work retreat.
