The 'River Bungalow' lot is high on the bank with the best views from 3 giant decks overlooking the Colorado River. 2 miles from Downtown Bastrop Shops, Restaurants, Fisherman's Park, SUP/Kayaking/tubing, Riverwalk, & <35 minutes to Airport/Austin. River Bungalow's interior is finished w/ salvaged farmhouse finds, industrial shiny fixtures, a chef kitchen & roomy bath w/ claw foot tub & washer/dryer! 2 big screened-in porches for your bug-free enjoyment or yoga (best on the decks overlooking the River)! River Bungalow is for couples, solo adventurers & business travelers wanting Class A ambiance! Small kids not recommended! We want to reassure you that we are making every effort to do a proactive anti-covid approach for our property. We require at least 24 hours between guests and a thorough cleaning and sanitation prior to the next guests arrival. It is our new normal! April and May 2020 River Bungalow was 'closed' for COVID and we have added some new 'additions'. Chickens! They aren't laying yet, but could be by the time you get here. They are hilarious to watch and have their own coop and run across the yard from the side porch. We have neighbors that have them, as well as Roosters (more on that in a second...). So, we decided to get all hens because 'if we can't beat 'em, join 'em'! To offset any 3:30 am neighboring rooster crowing issues, we have added an air purifier to the master bedroom for some 'white noise'. This chicken schedule now includes a couple of our visits per day to check on the little trouble-makers and let them in and out of their coop and run. We are just getting them on a routine and sometimes, only when we are there, will let them out into the yard to 'free-range'. I think 'herding cats' is easier. lol... We've also put in a garden, so there may be something fresh and tasty we can offer you while you are staying at River Bungalow. We will let you know what is available and see if you have any interest ahead of your stay. I will be tending the garden (mostly will be watering), while tending to the chickens. The hope is that this is a River Bungalow of rest, fun, adventure, rejuvenation, and/or romance for you! It was over a year for my contractor to remodel with a lot of passion and talent in the details. I salvaged old 1800's farm houses and mixed it with modern design. There is big style in the small footprint! It is super comfy with spray foam insulation everywhere you can't see, and central heat/air. After the gutters went up, it was 'time to put it up for a short term rental', so everyone could enjoy it. So, 'ENJOY'! The house and lot are yours to use and roam during your stay. The lot backs up to a steep slope to the river. There are 3 amazing tiered decks (climbing stairs necessary) to head towards the River. Access to the river is currently restricted from the bottom deck, until passage is a lot safer. We can talk about that. Bring the kayaks, however, as there is Fisherman's Park boat ramp less than 2 miles away. The garage is the owner's personal storage space. There is outside parking available for up to 2 cars. With up to 4 people staying, over 3 people is charged an additional fee. I also just want to be clear that some may find the bathroom arrangement a little less private than desired. Though off of the Master Bedroom, the bathroom doesn't have a separate door into the main house or into the 2nd bedroom. I just wanted you to be clear on that in case you change your mind. Otherwise, it is so totally worth staying there!!! The outside fencing, gates, decks and landscaping is still 'under construction' but should be further along when you stay. There is a train that ambles by every so often. I like it, but it may rumble a bit too loud for some. There is a crossing about 1/3 of a mile away, so you will possibly hear a horn. I just want to let you know, in case that isn't for you. Otherwise, it is fun to watch it go by, when you aren't watching the river roll.
