When you book assuming we have something and then are dissatisfied or cancel, I am penalized. My description is accurate and complete. This house is 175 years old and is located in a remote and sincerely rural location. This is not a location appealing to everyone and that is perfectly understandable. Please do not book if your expectations are for something different.
Spacious, yet quaint, 1846, restored historic home. Highlighting original plank flooring, exposed brick walls, working fireplace, fenced yard. This is a property that will take you back in time. Please notice that we have done a restoration to this house, not a modernization. Everything done to the house had the intention of maintaining as much of the original integrity as possible. Please read the description carefully to realize what limitations this type of restoration does have. At your arrival, i try to stock with the basics for the kitchen and comfort paper products to accommodate ypur arrival. please prepare that I do not provide toiletries or restock during your stay. Located at the entrance to Cross Creek Park with playground, fishing pier, boat and kayak launch, and pavilions and hiking trails. Located in Historic West Middletown, a long home of William McKeever whose sons had ties to John Brown and the Underground Railroad. The house itself was originally owned by Dr. Archibald Campbell whose family founded the Christian Church and Bethany College. The quaint town of West Middletown offers a restaurant and antique store within walking distance. Local attractions include Cross Creek Park with 300+ acre lake for fishing and nearby hunting, and the Meadowcroft Museum of Rural Life and Rock Shelter. Within 45 minutes to downtown Pittsburgh and Downtown Wheeling, WV. Public Golf Courses within 8 miles. 17 Miles to Pepsi Cola Road House and First Niagra Pavillion.
