Summary: Our stay here for the month of February enabled us to explore the Central Highlands. The house is modern, spacious, a sunny and comfortable home probably best suited for an extended stay or work-from-home situation. The washer/dryer are very efficient. There is hot water only in the shower. We are a 10 minute drive from the nearby city of Naranjo. Uber and taxis will take you back and forth for approximately $5-$6 each way. The family who owns the house lives nearby and is always available to address any concerns. We have enjoyed practicing our Spanish with them and learning some things about the area. The property is gated and very secure. The garden has a rosemary and a mint plant. The house itself is perched on a mountain top surrounded by coffee plantations. Other private homes dot the area. The house is completely in the open with a spectacular view but there is no rainforest and no wildlife here ….only coffee plantations and houses. Expect to see spiders, crickets and other small insects that come in from outdoors. If you just ignore them, they will die and you can sweep them out the door. There are some lovely restaurants with a spectacular views near the house……the closest are El Fogon de Juli, El Chayote Lodge & El Mirador. There are small food stores for basic supplies like coffee, rice, milk about 1/4 mile down the road. There are no sidewalks and narrow winding streets with fast moving cars and trucks so it’s not the best idea to walk to the stores.
