Positive: The views from the property were amazing. While we didn't use the pool because of the temperatures, it did look great. The upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and seemed a little more renovated than the rest of the property. The showers had great water pressure. The host was kind.
Negative: The house is located in Mesao Frio, which we learned is known for very narrow and windy roads. It was a super narrow road to get to the property, and a little stressful doing this with an SUV full of kids. I wish the instructions to get there were more obvious in the listing (enter into your maps "Praia Fluvial da Rede" to get to the 1km driveway entrance). We made an effort to get back to the property each day before dark so we didn't have to navigate the narrow and windy roads at night. I would recommend getting any provisions before the 3/4pm check-in so you don't have to venture to/from the grocery store in Regua at dark (15-20min drive). The downstairs living room/kitchen was small and had a lot of clutter. Seemingly used dish clothes on the sink and left-over preserves/items in the refrigerators. There was a utility closet in the kitchen that had a pretty pungent smell coming from it. The clutter could be reduced and amenities updated for the modern traveler. (Provide a roll of paper towel / counter cleaner / bin liners...even a small welcome package of fresh milk/bread would go a long way). There was a big tent set up immediately next to the house (within 5 ft) for what looked like a wedding or something. But it blocked all the views from the kitchen/living room of the river and mountains. There was a hiking trail and rail road within feet of the back of the house. It would have been nice to know this, since the house is very secluded, it was unsettling to hear voices on the trail at 4am when you don't expect anyone around. I'd maybe recommend this place for hikers, but not for a family.
Summary: Beautiful views, but secluded and difficult access, could also use some de-cluttering/cleaning.
