I am a Home Maker. The children have moved out, giving us the free space.
I love to have people staying over as it gives me an opportunity to make new friends, and also look after them while they are my guests.
Enjoy seeing the Great Indian and grey hornbills enjoying eating the fruits in my garden ( month of Dec to March).
The city of Dehradun is famous for its schools, boasting some of the best in the country. The Doon School is one such elite school. In the last decade, it has also become a big centre for college education with many colleges and universities being established here.
My home is situated quite close to some of the major tourist attractions of the region, chief among them being the following:
1. The holy town of Haridwar is 55 km
2. The holy town of Rishikesh is 45 km
3. The popular hill resort of Mussoorie is 35 km away
4. The quiet hill station of Chakrata is 90 km away
Being the capital city of the state of Uttarakhand, the home can act as a central point from where excursions and visits can be made to various parts of the state.
From a historical standpoint, my house is within walking distance from the famed Forest Research Institute, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology and the Indian Military Academy. The Tibetan settlement at Clement town, with the tallest Buddha statue in the country, is also about 8 km away.
The city of Rishikesh provides opportunities for river rafting during the season as well as adventure sports. Hiking and trekking are major attractions of this hill state. The Rajaji National Park and the Malsi Deer Park provide opportunities for the 'nature' minded. The Asan barrage (about 30 km away) is a resting ground for migratory birds in winters and are a delight for bird watchers.
The location of my home is picturesque in that it is set in a quiet green area, and the house itself has a large garden. The hills of Shivalik range of mountains, and the town of Mussoorie can be seen from the terrace. In winters, the snow clad mountains make a pleasant
sight.
The Reliance Big Cinemas Mall offering a multiplex is walking distance from the home, and also offers many eateries near it.
My hobbies include gardening, reading, cooking, listening to music and interacting with my guests. Since I have traveled all over the world with my husband, it gives me great pleasure to interact with my guests and give them a snapshot of our culture and hospitality.
Our family is small with my two children working abroad. This gives me time to attend to my guests. We are all fluent in English, Hindi and Bengali.
The bedroom is on the first floor overlooking the terrace. It is West facing with plenty of light and air. It has two single beds that can be joined.
