Skylark and Lapwing lodges both suitable for wheel chair access they have two levels. On the first floor is the main bedroom with king sized bed, wardrobe, bedside draws and lights and alarm clock /radio. there is a railed balustrade which looks down over the living dining area. There is an en suite wet room with shower, toilet hand basin and electric shaver point. On the ground floor they have a second bedroom with a single and double bed with draws underneath, bedside draws and lamp and a large wardrobe with a draw. The kitchen is fully fitted with a dishwasher,fridge,freezer,microwave, toaster, kettle, oven and hob, a full set of crockery and cutlery and a comprehensive range of kitchen utensils and saucepans. There is a combined living and dining area with a terrace off. The living area has two sofas and a high backed chair, TV, DVD player, CD radio,coffee table, floor lamp and rug. The dining area has a dining table and chairs and is directly off the kitchen. The ground floor bathroom has a bath, toilet and wet room shower area the shower area is wheel chair accessible and we have a number of aids, wheeled shower seat, toilet frame zimmer frame, swivel transfer platform for moving between chairs. The sauna is off the downstairs bathroom. The final room is a utility room with worktop, coat hooks, ironing board, iron,vacuum cleaner brushes mops and buckets. Outside each lodge is a hot tub which seats six people and is available at an additional cost, please contact venue direct to book and pay. Blackthorn Gate comprises four luxury holiday lodges – Curlew, Lapwing, Skylark and Chaffinch situated on the border of North Yorkshire and Tees Valley. Set in 230 acres of open farmland the lodges have been specifically designed and positioned with the huge windows at the front facing directly at Roseberry Topping so you can enjoy uninterrupted views of this glorious landmark! There is also a Games Room with table tennis, pool and bar football and there is also a communal laundry room. We have onsite fishing in three ponds ranging from one to four acres in size. Rita's pool is stocked with carp and bream, Besses pool with crucian carp ,ide, chub, tench and roach and Eastfields Pool is stocked with roach and tench.
In addition to the public footpaths that cross the farm there is a network of pathways that visitors can follow around the farm. There are about 35 acres of woodland which guests can wander through watching out for the abundant bird and animal life on the farm.
We are well situated for visiting both the coast or you can go inland on foot from the farm the National Park starts right in front of us. Or by train from Nunthorpe along the Esk Valley line calling at Great Ayton Kildale, Commondale,Castleton Lealome and eventually Whitby. By car the whole of the moors is your oyster visit Helmsley, Malton, Pickering, Hutton le Hole, or Danby, Further afield York, Durham, and Newcastle are all within easy reach. For lovers of food and drink there doesnot seem to be a village in the area that has not got at least one public house with a restaurant or bar meals. The jewel in the crown being the Michelin stared Star Inn at Harome near Helmsley. There are 3 restaurants within a mile and a half of us, all of which can be walked to if the weather and footpaths permit.
