Our cleaning fees are generally higher than the market average because we pay above the living wage standards, 100% of your cleaning fee is paid to the cleaners (i.e. no profit to us) and we insist on a professional level of cleaning between guests. This has always included disinfecting all “wet” surfaces (sinks, showers, toilets), replacing all linens and towels, and cleaning all dishes. We love the High Desert for a lot of reasons - including the open spaces, lack of crowds, and dry weather that we believe make it a safe place to visit. The Space: Inspired by global travelers and natural textures, Pioneertown Lookout feels both exotic and familiar. The property includes two cozy bedrooms, a chef’s kitchen, and spectacular views from all angles - especially from the wraparound deck. This stylish home is the ideal home base for outdoor activities in the area. It sits a 20-minute drive from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, though there’s plenty of outdoor exploration to do within walking distance too. -BEDS & BATHS- There’s no street noise nor light pollution here, so you’ll sleep well during your time at Pioneertown Lookout. One bedroom has a king-size bed; the other, a queen. Both bedrooms feature high-quality sheets and comfortable mattresses. One or two additional guests can sleep on the pull-out sofa downstairs. The bathroom has stylish fixtures, including a luxurious rainfall shower, plus Brooklinen towels and environmentally friendly Public Goods bath products. -KITCHEN & DINING- If the desert inspires your culinary side, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen ready for any gastronomic endeavor. Appliances include a gas stove with hood, oven, fridge, freezer, french press, toaster, and coffee maker, and the shelves and drawers are stocked with dishes and cookware. The yellow backsplash adds a pop of sunshine. When it’s time to eat, pull up a chair at the dining table, which is framed by floor-to-ceiling windows, so it feels like you’re outdoors. Or, opt for an al fresco meal on the patio, where you’ll find a few adirondack chairs awaiting cocktail hour. -LIVING SPACE- After an invigorating hike or a late night at Pappy & Harriet’s, there’s no better place to relax than the tranquil living room. Put your feet up and turn on the fireplace for a cozy night in - or get the party started with tunes on the record player. On the lower level, you’ll find a laid-back media room, which includes a pull-out sofa, a smart TV, a DVD player, and a second bathroom. It’s the best spot in the house for a movie night or to give the kids some space of their own. -OUTDOOR SPACE- Admiring desert views is easy at Pioneertown Lookout - simply step out onto the wraparound deck or the downstairs patio and let the desert magic captivate you. You have your own star gazing deck and hot tub with the best views in town. -ESSENTIALS- The property includes free parking for a couple of cars. Pioneertown Lookout also has WiFi, central heating, and air conditioning, so you’ll always be comfortable and connected. Guest Access: You will have the entire house and property to yourself The Neighborhood: Pioneertown is one of the most unique communities in the High Desert. It sits amidst a breathtaking tableau of the craggy mountains and flat-top buttes that make up Pioneertown Mountain Preserve, which offers excellent hiking and exploring options. Founded right after World War II as a permanent set for filming Western movies and TV shows, Pioneertown today is an attraction in its own right; just walk down Mane Street and imagine Hollywood stars working here. On some days it is possible to watch a gunfight reenactment provided by realistically costumed actors. The community is perhaps best known today as the home of world-famous Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace, a mecca for food and music enthusiasts. Pioneertown is located within a short drive of many restaurants, shops, and things to do. The West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park is 25 minutes away by car, but you’ll also want to enjoy these area highlights: • Yucca Valley (10-minute drive) - Convenient stop for chain stores and local eateries, like Carla's Route 62 Diner and C & S Coffee Shop. • Joshua Tree Village (20-minute drive) - Quirky strip of boutiques and restaurants, including Coyote Corner, Space Cowboy Books, and the rustic Joshua Tree Saloon. • Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum (25-minute drive) - As far from a stuffy gallery as you can imagine, this outdoor sculpture garden contains a unique collection of folk-art. • The Integratron (25-minute drive) - New age-y healing destination with a sound bath, originally designed by ufologist George Van Tassel with the goal of reversing the aging process. • Palm Springs (45-minute drive) - Artsy town known for vintage shopping, art galleries, and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. • Mt. San Jacinto State Park (90-minute drive) - Expansive, hilly landscape with foot and horseback trails surrounding 10,834-foot Mount San Jacinto. Of course, let’s not forget about the essentials. Everything you need is within close driving distance: • Closest supermarket: Vons (13-minute drive) • Closest liquor store: Yucca Valley Liquor (10-minute drive) • Closest pharmacy: Rite Aid Pharmacy (13-minute drive) • Closest bank: Wells Fargo Bank (11-minute drive) • Closest gas station: Sinclair (9-minute drive) Getting Around: Many roads in the high desert are dirt, so please take it slow. While a car is required to get around, a four wheel drive car is not, but note that roads will often have ruts, particularly after a rain. Other Things to Note: • EVENTS & COMMERCIAL PHOTOSHOOTS: Are not permitted without prior approval, applicable permit and additional fees. • DOGS: Dogs are welcome and there is a one time fee of $60. • SOCIAL MEDIA: If you plan on sharing your experience on social media, please mention us! • CELL SERVICE: Cell phone service availability and quality in the high desert varies by service provider. This is particularly true in the more remote areas of Joshua Tree, Pipes Canyon, and Pioneertown. Please be prepared by enabling wifi calling or downloading a VOIP program. • ROAD CONDITIONS: Many roads are dirt, so please take it slow. A four wheel drive car is not required, but note that roads will often have ruts, particularly after a rain • HOSTED BY HOMESTEAD MODERN Interaction with Guests: Our property manager, Homestead Modern, is local and has staff available from 9am-9pm.
