WHY SHOULD I STAY AT THE SWEDISH COTTAGE TAHOE?
WALK OUT THE DOOR and start hiking! Bring your toys for the forest "backyard"- snow shoes, sleds, Nordic skis, snowmobile, bikes, paddleboards and kayaks! We've even had someone bring their boat. AND! We had a wedding in the back forest!
In memory of my heritage, we'd like to welcome you as guests in "THE SWEDISH COTTAGE", where many of my family's inherited items and treasures from years of living and working in many parts of the world have found their home. We find it a perfect getaway for a couple looking for rest and adventures in nature.
"THE SWEDISH COTTAGE" is an 800 sq ft independent dwelling that backs up to the National Forest. It is secluded though placed in the very sought after Ridgewood Highlands neighborhood. About 10 minutes to Tahoe City or Kings Beach. A 25-minute drive to downtown Truckee. We avoid most of the common traffic that typically flows from North to South.
The COTTAGE is on the same property as the main house where my husband and I live with our youngest son and two dogs, a Maltese and Goldendoodle. A parking space is reserved for you in the driveway. The garage below is not part of the rental. You have private access to the cottage, using a keypad. Please don't hesitate to contact us during daytime hours.
The BEDS have Casper mattresses with duvet down comforters and cotton sheets. The daybed will be made up as a bed instead of "sofa" upon request.
KIDS: We love them (We have 7!) But! The cottage is designed for adults only. There is no child-proofing, an open staircase and 2-story balcony.
PETS: We love them too! (We have 2!) Asta and Sally live on the property. We cannot allow other pets.
If a guest has MOBILITY impairment, an electric stair-lift bypasses the stairs to the main floor. Please let us know ahead of time if you will need access to the chair, so we can have it ready and provide you proper instruction. Safety grab bars are installed in the bathroom next to the toilet and in the shower.
INTERNET/ELECTRONICS: Mesh WiFi 500 Mbps. VoIP Phone. TV has Apple TV, Amazon Prime, HBOMax. Netflix app is available with your login. Apple HomePod for music.
HEAT: Gas stove fireplace. Central Heat. Extra electric room heaters. As is typical in Tahoe, no air conditioning. We often get a nice summer breeze and an occasional summer shower. Temps drop in the summer evenings.
FULL KITCHEN includes all major appliances, microwave, toaster, Nespresso, pour over coffee, water kettle, air popcorn popper, cookware, oil, salt/pepper. An initial supply of Coffee, Espresso, Tea, Hot Chocolate & popcorn.
LAUNDRY/BATH: washer/dryer/laundry soap, iron/board, bath towels, first aid, shampoo/cond/body soap and hairdryer for your use. Beach towels available in summer.
CHECK OUT: Lock up and Go! We hope that your souls are rejuvenated by comfort, aesthetics, care, music, good food and nature. So we have created a space that not only tells something of our personal story, but something we hope you will truly enjoy. We'll clean up. And we know that you'll respect our home in return.
