Get away from civilization and back to nature in this immaculate European style chalet on very pretty and remote Charley Lake. The cabin has soaring ceilings and is all windows so you can enjoy the beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains from the inside as well as on hikes and adventures. Brand new custom lakeside sauna! Great after a cool dip in the lake or roll in the snow. This is a great spot if you are looking for a quiet retreat. This is a private community with noise ordinances, and because sound travels easily across the lake, we cannot have outdoor music, yelling, or other disturbances here. Please take this into consideration before booking this spot. We now follow as many CDC recommendations for cleaning as possible and now must limit guests to four (4), sorry! We offer lower rates if you are just two persons, so rates quoted are for two. $25 per person per day for additional guests. The lake and dock are just 15 feet from the house, great for kids and for swimming. We have a custom bar with stools on the deck, perfect for that first cup of coffee in the morning and winding down with a glass of wine at night. Loons live on this lake, their eerie call is an amazing sound to experience, and it echoes off the mountains. Distant owl and coyote calls also frequently heard. The view across the lake is of wooded land and mountains, just a few houses in sight. We provide lots of extras to make your stay easy and breezy. Just bring your food, leave the rest to us. This is an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts as we share all our special spots, like hikes to great views and waterfalls, local skiing, snowshoe and cross country spots. Those who prefer to stay home and soak in the Adirondack goodness from the sofa or hammock will be equally pleased. There's a little something for everyone. Property comes with Weber charcoal grill and a Weber gas grill (gas grill not available in winter), full chefs kitchen with Viking gas stove and convection oven, dishwasher, good dishes and quality pots and pans. Dine by chandelier with a lake view. High speed internet and a landline provided (no cell service here!). Huge flat screen TV for watching Netflix movies, but no cable. Adirondack chairs provided for drinking in the peace and quiet and the views, more seating found around the fire pit. Guests have use of the indoor fireplace, outdoor fire pit for stargazing and marshmallow roasting, and of course the new outdoor sauna. WINTER This is a great spot for skiers, snowmobilers, cross country skiing and snowshoe enthusiasts. This cabin was built to take advantage of the beautiful winters here. Exceptionally private, we are the only cabin open in winter on the lake. Snowmobiling - we are right on the snowmobile trail, no need to haul sleds anywhere. Snowmobile rentals nearby or bring your own. Thousands of miles of trails from here to Canada! Skiing - fabulous, fun, family friendly local Oak Ski Mountain is just 10 minutes away. A unique small town mountain with big ideas, they have sledding and other winter activities for the kids, great food, fun bar and live music. Gore is 40 minute drive. Lapland Lake is one of the best cross country ski resorts in the east, 35 minute drive, Garnett Hiil is also amazing, about 1 hour drive. Fishing - this lake is known for it's ice fishing. Snowshoes - we supply 4 sets - take them across the lake or venture out onto the trails and through the woods. Hiking - we supply a list of fun winter hikes, including waterfalls which are beautiful in winter. SPRING, SUMMER and FALL Swim, kayak, canoe, paddle board, read, bbq, hike, stargaze or do nothing but relax! Charley Lake is a spring fed mountain top lake, there are no motorboats. You will have a stand up paddle board, kayaks, canoe and lake floats. Great hiking and waterfalls nearby, we supply a full list of nature hikes, restaurants, museums and things to do. Saratoga and Lake George are one hour drive, Lake Placid is two. Gorgeous drives to many surrounding lakes in this area. If you are interested in more action, 15 minutes in either direction are towns which have restaurants, bigger lakes, more hiking, free tennis, basketball, beaches and some stunning waterfalls. MORE ABOUT THIS CABIN There are 3 bedrooms. Upstairs is an open loft bedroom with queen bed. Downstairs are two bedrooms, each with one double bed, one also has a fun single loft bunk, for a total of 4 beds in house. There is one bathroom (shower only). We recently added a hand crafted outside wood bar to the deck with lap blankets for those cooler days. Disclosure: there is a security camera facing the driveway, used to monitor arrivals, deliveries and snowfall. WHAT WILL YOU LOVE? The house has amazing views, is quiet, clean, charming and eco friendly, cabin is kept in immaculate condition so even the most discerning should be very pleased. Nice privacy (most private in winter) and on a unusually peaceful mountain lake. We supply detailed lists of where to go and what do to in the area, and the house is well stocked with things to make your stay easy and breezy - just bring food and we do ask you to bring your own beach, sauna and bath towels. What might you NOT Love? Noise must be kept to a minimum. The well water has naturally occurring iron (minerals) which turns it a slight yellow color. Although perfectly fine to use and drink, it stains our shower and toilet. No washer dryer (or sheets would turn yellow). We provide nice quality linens for the beds, bath mats, hand and kitchen towels (and wash them at the laundromat), but ask guests to please bring their own bath and beach towels, or, for an additional cleaning fee, we will supply bath towels. There is a laundromat down the road a bit. Also, RECYCLES are a real hassle here, as the town does not pick them up. So, like with camping, guests who choose to stay here must agree to take home what they brought in. Leaving a few is fine (less than one bag in total!) but they must be kept clean and separate from garbage. The housekeeper has agreed to take one bag in her car after each cleaning. More than that and there will be an additional fee. We get a lot of couples asking to stay here, so we offer lower rates if you are just 2 persons. This is a NO PARTIES, NO SMOKING, NO PETS (no exceptions, sorry!), NO LOUD NOISE and allergen free home. PLEASE NOTE: We get pretty booked up year round, so in the busy summer season our housekeeper has set aside Monday and Friday for us. Our rentals are M-F, M-M, F-M or F-F.
