Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Super convenient and comfortable place in the heart of Rennes. Very comfortable bed. Windows opened onto a rather quiet street and allowed a cool breeze to waft through in September. Small kitchen stocked with enough cups and utensils and an easy-to-use coffee machine (pods). The bathroom is small but adequate.

Negative: The following comments come after a delayed flight and a lost bag, so be colored by those events. Communication proved difficult. We had asked about parking shortly after our reservation on Booking.com as we were considering renting a vehicle to visit friends. We received a reply the day of our arrival. The arrival message also included instructions and codes for entry and Wi-Fi. We arrived and didn't need the first code to open the door from the street because the door didn't latch. Inside, doors were not numbered, so though we thought we were at the correct door, we weren't sure. The code to the lockbox for the key to the apartment didn't open the lockbox, so we tried lockboxes on the other doors, with the same negative results. Meanwhile, we were texting the proprietor via Booking but received no response. We had the phone number but couldn't call because our eSIM had only data, and neither WhatsApp nor Signal recognized the number. It was only by the kindness of 2 French travelers who found themselves in the same situation and called the proprietor that we were able to get the correct lockbox code. The room had a slightly musty smell from old cigarette smoke, but it didn't linger after we opened the windows. We attempted to log onto the Wi-Fi, and the passcode did not work. After about an hour's worth of attempts and several text exchanges with the proprietor (who finally resorted to WhatsApp), we gave up. Also, one of the lamps adjacent to the bed didn't work.
