Come stay in Our Lakehouse in picturesque Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills. Look out over the lake in beautiful Keith Stephenson Park, alongside Western Flat Creek. Just put your bags down, silence the technology and relax! Our 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, is a self-catering, comfortably furnished house, amid pleasant lawned gardens. The master suite has ensuite, walk in wardrobe & queen size bed with views over the park. A second large bedroom also with park views is furnished with complete bedroom suite and double bed. Two smaller bedrooms have 2 single beds each. There are two living areas, with central kitchen and dining area, all with park outlook. In total the house accommodates 8 guests and includes linen, towels etc, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine & ironing facilities and other small appliances, along with tea & coffee and some local treats. We hope that you’ll have what you need to enhance your experience. Snuggle up on the sofa with a hot chocolate in winter, or relax on the wide veranda with a glass of bubbly or a cool drink in the warmer weather, while enjoying the outlook over the lake and parkland. It feels special! Stroll into Gawler Street, Mt Barker’s historic main street for the best coffee or a delicious lunch. Walk to historic, grand Auchendarroch House mansion & gardens and have a lovely meal at the Oak & Iron tavern. Perhaps take in a movie at the Wallis Cinema next door. There’s plenty of shopping opportunities and numerous supermarkets close by too. If you’re looking for a bit more fresh air and exercise, take a walk along the 4 klm of walk/bike track, just outside the front gate, that meanders along the side of attractive tree lined Western Flat Creek to Laratinga Wetlands. For the kids, there's plenty of room for them to play in the enclosed yard, plus the added fun of a large play ground in the park, literally “a stone’s throw” from the house, (we don’t encourage throwing any stones though!) along with a skate park. You’ll find the old fashioned family entertainment ideas – jigsaws, board games and cards and a small library. Mount Barker is on the South Eastern Freeway, just a 40 minute easy drive from Adelaide. If you’d like to explore further afield, the Lake House is a great central location to so many attractions that these areas have to offer, all pretty much within an hour’s drive. • World class wineries, scenic drives and cafes, bakeries & restaurants showcasing wonderful local produce • Hahndorf with its Germanic history, galleries, shopping, cafes and restaurants. Take a tour of artist Sir Hans Heyson’s residence “The Cedars”. • Beautiful Strathalbyn with its Scottish history and its wonderful central park on the Angas River, just 22 klms away. • The popular South Coast and Fleureiu Peninsula including Goolwa on Lake Alexandrina at mouth of the Murray, and glorious Victor Harbour. • Book a trip on the Steam Ranger heritage railway (check the schedule online) • Take a drive along the beautiful Onkaparinga Valley Scenic drive. Lots of great pubs too. We love the Charleston Hotel! • Immerse yourself in the history of many towns and localities, first settlements as pioneers in the early to mid 1800’s explored opportunities outside of Adelaide and over the Adelaide Hills - including Mount Barker, Echunga, Blakiston (with the first church built in the district), Nairne and many more. • The broader Adelaide Hills including picturesque Stirling, Aldgate, Crafers, Uraidla not to mention McLaren Vale wine district in the Southern Adelaide Hills. Monarto Zoo is a 1/2 hr drive. • The Barossa Valley, • The River Murray, • and of course Adelaide and its beaches. SO MUCH TO DO... SO MUCH ON OFFER!
