Positive: Shepherds Story is a delightful cottage. Very rustic with old world charm. The hot tub was appreciated, pretty easy to light if you follow the instructions. The internal space inside the cottage is approximately 8x3 metres and the kitchen/lounge/bedroom are all one room. The bathroom/toilet is an external room which you access by going out the back door. It's undercover, so don’t worry about the external elements. There is a bath, separate shower, toilet and basin. You access the cottage through the back gate and back door, the front door doesn’t appear to open. The mattress is firm, which we liked. They have a "pillow menu" which was interesting. It was nice to have no TV, just kick back and relax. There is a small wood burning stove which we didn’t use. There are 3 small windows inside (2 are fixed and unable to open). The small, fixed window at the foot of the bed, has a view of the neighbours’ properties across the street, also 2 wooden "shutters" that can be closed for privacy. The small, fixed kitchen window looks out onto the small yard/hot tub area. The small window at the other end of the room, opens slightly and faces the street but has foliage in front, so more private. You're not isolated, there are properties around you, one house left side and a paddock on the right, but it’s pretty quiet during the night. The seating inside consists of 2 high-back chairs at a small kitchen bench, 1 bean bag and 1 fold-up chair. 2 chairs outside and a long rectangle table, nice when weather is fine and warm. 2 push bikes that you can use to ride around Ross. The Booking.com description doesn't mention that this cottage is "off the grid" even though some reviewers make mention of it, so you may not be aware, if you haven’t read all the reviews before booking - there is no oven, no microwave, no electric jug.
