Old Forest House Stables is a converted, ground floor cottage in the grounds of the owner's house, where the horses used to be stabled for nearby country house. Set in a pretty picturesque forest garden with views of The Black Mountains. This cosy cottage is very conveniently close to Hay-on- Wye, the interesting and quirky small market town famous for its many antique and bookshops that give the town its unique character. There are plenty of lovely walks and mountain bike trails easily accessible. The cottage is reached up a lane, and has a private sitting out area in the extensive gardens with a BBQ, great for alfresco dining. Within walking distance of The Baskerville Arms and The Old Radnor Arms in Llowes is highly recommended. Accommodation: Sleeps 2 - 1 Kingsize Room Kitchen - Well-equipped galley kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave fridge and freezer, there is a separate utility room that provides a washing machine and a drying room where the central heating boiler is located, also with a lock-up for storing bikes etc. Living room - There are beautiful views from the large windows over to The Black Mountains, down the garden to the orchard. A flat screen TV with Freeview and CD player. Dining table and chairs and a comfy new good quality sofa and chairs making this the perfect romantic and cosy getaway. Bedroom - A spacious bedroom with a King-Size bed, plenty of storage and again amazing view. The en- suite bathroom is spacious with a free standing shower unit, corner bath, hand basin and toilet. Useful Information: * Bed linen and Towels provided * Electricity, oil central heating provided * No pets * Plenty of parking * Mobile phone reception * WIFI available * Cot and high chair available * Storage for mountain bikes The nearest town Hay- on-Wye 1.5 miles has plenty of places to eat out and independent shops including a traditional bakers that also make lovely cakes, a butchers with locally sourced meat and a delicatessen plus the not to be missed "Shepherds' Ice-cream Parlour" with a great selection of homemade ice-creams. Hay Castle dates from the 12th century and is in the process of being restored. The intimate little Booths Cinema and Booths Cafe are new to Hay and just a few of the things not to be missed. The River Wye running below the town offers provides a range of walks, a beach with wild swimming and in places great picnic sites. There are great places to hire canoes, mountain bikes and even Vespa motor scooters to explore the area. From Hay there are of course wonderful walks up to Hay Bluff, over to Capel-y-ffin, Llantony Abbey and The Black Mountains and beyond. This is a really great place to stay - tucked away in a cottage with a forest garden yet less than 2 miles from Hay-on-Wye.
