Travel Purpose: business
Positive: When arriving to Talek, to find the property, you take first right (around 50m) after passing ATM. We were warm welcomed by very friendly staff. Most of the people working there are local Masais. Property has super convenient location of less than 5 minutes by car to the entrance to Masai Mara, Talek gate. The houses are very comfortable, with all required amenities (big living room with flat screen TV, kitchen and two bathrooms and a patio with a dining table). For people looking for self catering option is a perfect choice. Every evening there was a camp fire at the property, where we could also have a chat with local guys. Patao was a great company to share with us some details of Masai culture, which is a big bonus for outsiders like us, interested to learn more about indigenous people (it's definitely more informative than quick, organised tour to a nearby Masai village). There was also silent disco in the evening, which I find very funny and interesting idea. Breakfast, server at the property was also good. We also had pleasure to meet the owner, David, who puts lots of efforts to animate the community, by organising different events (e.g. small festival of country music). He is also great photographer too - you can admire his work on Facebook/Instagram.. There is also group of baboons living nearby the property in the woods and you can see them usually in the morning, which may be additional attraction for people from outside of Africa (like us, Europeans). Overall great stay - we wish we could stay longer there... If possible, I'll definitely come back.
Negative: Kitchen requires some improvements (e.g. we had issue with our fridge).
