Enjoy your days kayaking, snorkeling, fishing and whale watching on your own private beach steps from the treehouse. ~ More information ~ The Treehouse: Casa Verde is a palapa style tree house located on the beach of Los Chonchos. Our treehouse is beautifully decorated with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with shower as well as two queen beds, and a daybed sofa with extra twin sized trundle. This is a great space for a friends trip or a family vacation, with a total of four beds offering enough sleeping space for 6. Casa Verde is located with in an eco-nature reserve called Los Chonchos. Los Chonchos is in a relatively remote area within the Cabo Corrientes region of Jalisco, Mexico. You get to Casa Verde via a short 45 minute water taxi trip from Boca de Tomatlan, a small fishing village just outside of Puerto Vallarta. Los Chonchos is a beautiful secluded paradise with pristine beaches, lush green tropical plants, and lots of wildlife. However, what it does not have is grocery stores, pharmacies, or any other luxuries that we are used having readily available in larger cities or towns. Therefore, you want to be sure that you do all your grocery shopping In Puerto Vallarta before heading to the water taxi. You will also want to be sure to pack any medications that you take regularly or feel that you might need. We do have a first-aid kit at Casa Verde but we might not have everything that you require so plan ahead. The surrounding villages of Yelapa and Chimo do have small grocery stores for essentials should you forget something. If you are looking for a great day trip I would recommend hopping on the morning water taxi to Yelapa and spend the day exploring. There are many things to do in Yelapa from shopping to horseback riding. You can also hike up to find the waterfalls of Yelapa and take a refreshing swim under the falls. Guest Access: Upon arrival to Los Chonchos you will be greeted by one of our onsite staff members. They will help you off the boat and assist you with your bags up to the treehouse. Being located on a Eco-Nature Reserve you will be totally surrounded by the beauty of the rainforest. You will have access to nature walks to private beaches, rock caves, and streams. We provide you with a variety of activity options at Casa Verde. Whether you want to enjoy a day paddling around the bay in one of our sea kayaks or exploring the underwater sea world with a snorkel we have you covered. (See below for the complete list of activities provided) In addition to fun and adventure, we also provide clean linens and comfortable sleeping accommodations as well as towels, extra blankets for those chilly nights and basic toiletries. Our restaurant offers a beautiful ocean view and serves fresh authentic Mexican meals. All ingredients are usually caught, harvested, and cooked the same day. Chef Alphonso can provide you with all or some of your meals during your stay. Other Things to Note: Our community of palapas in Los Chonchos is an environmentally friendly Eco-community. We generate all our electricity through solar panels on the roof of our palapa. The water for our community comes directly from a mountain spring about 10 miles away. Our spring water is very clean and fresh. However, since this water is untreated we do recommend using the provided bottled or filtered water for drinking, brushing teeth, and cooking. 4 Tips To Be Prepared For Your Trip: 1. Avoid Luggage With Wheels We recommend using a backpack if possible. The water taxi drops you off directly on our private beach and traditional luggage is a little difficult to carry up to the treehouse. 2. Be Prepared To Get Wet There is no dock in Los Chonchos so the boat will literally drop you off on the beach. Therefore, be prepared to jump off the boat into water about knee to waist deep at maximum (depending upon your height of course). We recommend wearing shorts and sandals. *Important: Be sure to put your electronics or anything you do not want to get wet into a zip-lock bag and secure it in your backpack. It does not happen very often but we have seen the ocean take phones, wallets, and keys because they were not put away securely when disembarking the boat. 3. Always Be Prepared To Hike As we all know, Mother Nature is very unpredictable. If the water is to rough for the water taxi to safely beach and unload or load at Los Chonchos it will continue on to the next village called Chimo. If this occurs, you will be met in Chimo by one of our community members who will guide you on a short 45 minute hike to Los Chonchos. If you would rather not walk, have too many bags, or small children who might not be able to hike that far you can rent a mule for $400 - $500 pesos. Don't forget to pack closed toed walking shoes. 4. Relax and enjoy your adventure!
