This luxurious vacation rental home, moments from two beaches, is situated on the highest point of Brier Neck with ocean views from every angle, facing the iconic Twin Lights/Thatchers Island on one side and Salt Island/Good Harbor on the other. Ascend the outside steps of this large, family home and take in the spectacular panoramic ocean views (and sounds of the surf) north and south to the coastlines of Gloucester and Rockport. The view includes Long and Cape Hedge Beaches (and Good Harbor Beach tucked just out of sight but only a 5 minute walk away), Salt Island and Thatcher Island with its two iconic and historic working lighthouses. The home has four decks from which one can enjoy the views, two larger patio decks as well as two smaller decks on the other side of the house. For early risers, it is a real treat to watch the sun rise between the lighthouses. For night owls, the sunset is just as beautiful. Inside, the views will take your breath away with the wall of windows surrounding the dining area just off the fully applianced, sunny kitchen with a gas range and large island. The cathedral-ceilinged living room also has plenty of windows to take advantage of your perch above it all. On the main level, there is a hexagonal sitting room with a high quality (aka comfy) pullout sofa, small deck and views of Salt Island and beyond. In addition, the main floor features a smaller single bedroom and the guest king bedroom suite with a custom tiled marble bathroom and oversized glass-enclosed shower. Completing the main floor is a half bath and stacked laundry off the hall. All of the bedrooms in the home and the main living area are cooled by air conditioning units and are also equipped with flat-screen TVs. The top floor of the house has the same expansive ocean views. The master queen bedroom has a wall of beautiful custom walnut inlaid built-ins, a private balcony and Ming Green marble master bath with oversized glass shower and granite vanity. There are two more bedrooms, one with two twin beds and the other a queen bed, both with great views. They share the use of a large, modern, full bath. A lovely arched door in the queen bedroom leads to a surprising Juliet balcony that overlooks the living room. As you come up the main exterior steps, the first lower deck is part of an au pair suite that has a full kitchen, updated three-piece bathroom, living area with a queen futon sofa, and a separate queen bedroom. The views are breathtaking from the upper main deck which has plenty of seating and dining options as well as a Webber gas grill. Parking for 5 or 6 cars completes this amazing beach house getaway. A 5-minute walk (on quiet private roads) will take you to the surf and sands of Good Harbor Beach or Long Beach, arguably two of the best beaches on Cape Ann. REVIEWS FROM PAST GUESTS: FAMILY TIME As a family, we have rented many different houses, but High Rock is clearly one of the best. It is worth the rent, as it is spacious and comfortable for a large family. Our family (6 adults and 4 grandchildren, ages 4 mos-3 yrs) loved High Rock Cottage. The house is perfect for a family vacation and the location is ideal with spectacular views and an easy walk to Good Harbor or Long Beaches. We loved being able to walk through the yard to a great sandwich/pizza/ice cream shop, Surfside Sandwiches. Get the veggie pizza, one of the best ever. We took advantage of field trips to Rockport, Beauport Mansion, Halibut Point and lots of long walks on the beach. Summer is our time to reconnect with family and we all look forward to our beach vacations at Good Harbor. I would definitely recommend this property to any family looking to stay beachside in Gloucester and have already recommended it to other family members. We hope to be back as well. FAMILY GETAWAY IN EAST GLOUCESTER The house is spacious and well-maintained - spectacular views from every window, an easy walk to both Good Harbor and Long Beaches. GORGEOUS VIEWS AND PEACEFUL DAYS High Rock Cottage is impeccably maintained and generously equipped for a restful stay. The walk to Good Harbor is relatively short. Note that the steps up to the house are not ideal for any guest with trouble walking/climbing. Great to have the lovely garden and the ice cream place across the road. GORGEOUS HIGH ROCK COTTAGE The house has every modern convenience and is very comfortable with a lovely kitchen that is very well equipped. Marble bathrooms are luxurious and the bedrooms are perfect with big beds and plenty of storage space. The view from every room is truly spectacular. The downstairs suite was great for my daughter and her twins. It was away from the noise of the other older children. We loved having the best beaches on the North shore within walking distance.(Not to mention the ice cream/ pizza/ lobster roll place across the street) We enjoyed the luxurious and beautifully landscaped lawn as well. A WEEK IN PARADISE, NIRVANA AT GOOD HARBOR BEACH Our family of 5 brothers and sisters and their spouses had a wonderful week at the High Rock Cottage reminiscing about our childhood vacations spent in Gloucester, our favorite place on earth. The house was everything we had hoped for. One recommendation for future renters - bring a canopy to set up on the deck as we did, because the summer sun will keep you inside if not. The canopy allowed us to spend the majority of our time enjoying the gorgeous view from the deck. The location to the beach was perfect, and allowed us to come and go as we pleased. We would highly recommend this property to anyone. We found 2 new gems - the Causeway Restaurant, and the Seaport Grille. Can't wait to come back next year, thank you for sharing your home with us. BREATHTAKING OCEAN AND LIGHTHOUSE VIEWS We spent a happy week at High Rock Cottage for our family reunion. Loved the spacious living areas, especially the dining space with glorious views and the terrific decks. Well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds, convenient baths. Convenient downstairs space for working or playing music. Nice walk down to the beach (although it does take longer than 5 minutes with small children in tow). The huge and well-landscaped gardens were a joy -- and the Dairy Maid was at the end of the lawn! We adore Good Harbor and this was a fresh vantage point. WONDERFUL 2 WEEK STAY AT HIGH ROCK COTTAGE My family and I rented the lovely High Rock Cottage for two weeks and had a wonderful experience. The property is very well maintained with gorgeous outdoor spaces including a big deck with spectacular ocean views and a huge yard that is beautifully landscaped. The house was very clean, well-organized and well stocked. The living spaces were spacious and well appointed, comfortably accommodating the 10 adults in our group. Linda, the owner, was very helpful and accommodating, going out of her way to ensure that our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. One thing to note is the house sits on large rock above the parking area and there are a lot of stairs. Something to consider for those who have mobility issues. Overall, I would highly recommend High Rock, especially for larger groups or families.
