Located just 5 minutes to downtown Boone and ASU, 10 minutes to downtown Blowing Rock, 10 minutes to Appalachian Ski Mountain, and 5 minutes to Tweetsie Railroad, this cabin is close to a wide range of fun activities. At the same time, the cabin is completely secluded and tucked away from all neighbors. With this winning combination, you might not ever want to leave! -- THE PROPERTY -- This luxury log cabin boasts four Bedrooms, three Bathrooms, and a Loft. Pull up a chair at the bar in the Kitchen, gather around the table in the Dining Room, or settle in on the couch with a good book next to the wood-burning fireplace in the Living Room. This cabin offers something for everyone. The Loft offers a desk for remote workers, and a day bed for reading and relaxing. Next to the Loft is the spacious Master Bedroom and Master Bath with a California King Bed and views of the mountains and rhododendron forest surrounding the Cabin. The main level with a kitchen and living area also offers 2 bedrooms each with a queen bed, as well as a shared bathroom. The kids will love the Basement with its pool table, board games, puzzles, and plenty of space to stretch out. They can also check out the DVD selections and the video game choices while resting between hikes or trips to Tweetsie Railroad, Doc's Rocks Gem Mine, or the local ski resorts. The Basement Bedroom can sleep 1-4 people with a queen bed and a chair that can be converted into a twin bed for kids who might not want to be too far from Mom and Dad. -- THE OUTDOORS -- Outside, you have your choice of rockers and the swing on the front porch (recommended for sunsets) or the back deck for sunrises, meals in the sun, and night-time fires at the "Fire Table". You can also build your own fire in the fire pit below the back deck (chairs and firewood provided). The yard is flat and great for a game of catch in the summer, or snowball fights in the winter. -- THE ATTRACTIONS -- Local attractions include Appalachian Ski Mountain (with skiing at Sugar and Beech Mountains about 30 minutes away), Snow Tubing a Hawksbill, Tweetsie Railroad, Appalachian State University, the Blowing Rock. Access to the Blue Ridge Parkway is 3 miles from the Cabin, Moses Cone Park is 10 minutes away, the Blowing Rock Equestrian Center is 10 minutes away, and Grandfather Mountain is 30 minutes away via the Parkway. The area also boasts countless hiking trails, mountain biking, and shopping in downtown Boone and Blowing Rock. -- ADDITIONAL DETAILS -- You will have the entire Cabin to yourself during your visit and a special key code will unlock the home during your stay. You can fit 4-5 cars on our flat driveway, and the front and back decks have just 2 steps up for easy entry and access. Our neighborhood includes over 30 houses, with the closest home over 100 yards from the Cabin. -- GETTING HERE -- Oakwood Mountain Cabin is located conveniently off 321 between Blowing Rock and Boone. While you can reach the cabin easily from main and paved roads, please be prepared to drive in snow and ice during winter months. The Property Owner Association for our neighborhood requires 4-wheel drive, good tires, and snow chains to accommodate potentially hazardous road conditions.
