Welcome to Seagrass Cottage, a restored Sears & Roebuck cottage. Sears & Roebuck kit homes were very popular at Geneva on the Lake in the 1940's and early 1950's due to their affordability and ease of setup. In the 1980's and 1990's, these homes fell out of fashion and many were neglected and torn down for larger homes to be built. We lovingly restored this home in order to preserve a piece of Geneva on the Lake history.
Seagrass Cottage has accommodations for up to 6 people, is located on the East end of "The Strip" and is within walking distance to many attractions. Township Park, with its iconic picnic pavilion, playground and amazing Lake Erie views is a 2 minute walk away. Watch the sunset here, or catch a concert in the evening. Walk to many restaurants and bars within 5-10 minutes. Rent bikes or a golf cart to tour our small town and for easy access to Breakwater Beach and the Geneva State Park. Visit our friends at Adventure Zone to play Putt-Putt, arcade games or to race around the go cart track. Check out the Zip Line tours at The Lodge, or enjoy a hamburger at Eddies Grill. Schedule a T-Time at the Geneva on the Lake Public Golf Course, or any one of other area courses.
Ashtabula and nearby Lake Counties are home to more than 30 wineries, most within a 15 minute drive from Seagrass Cottage. Looking to schedule a tour? This cottage has been completely restored and offers guests a stylish, modern kitchen, which is fully stocked for your cooking needs during your stay. The eat in kitchen has a gas stove and oven, all pots, pans, silverware and service wear for 6 people. Kitchen towels are provided. There is a microwave, blender for your favorite beach drink, drip style coffee maker, toaster and tea kettle. A drop leaf table has seating for up to 6 people.
The bathroom has been updated to include a tiled walk in shower, hair dryer, bath towels and bath linens for up to 6 guests. There are 2 bedrooms, each with a full size bed, all of the bed linens you need for your stay, luggage rack and open closet space for stashing your work clothes in exchange for flip flops. Both bedrooms accommodate 2 people per room.
The living room has cozy seating, Internet based TV, with Netflix and Pandora provided for guests, along with many free stations and local television apps. There is a comfortable sofa bed to sleep an additional 2 people. The home has new, driftwood looking tile floors throughout the living room, kitchen and bathroom. Both bedrooms are carpeted. Ironing board, cubby storage and reading lights are provided.
There is a window air conditioning unit, gas heat and free Wi-Fi provided for the comfort of our guests. Enjoy drinks in the sun on the new front deck, or have dinner alfresco on the covered back porch, before lighting a fire in the fire pit to roast marshmallows!
