Come stay at the Sea Maiden! Located in a peaceful neighborhood, we are walking distance to Oak Beach (3 minutes) and downtown (13 minutes). Park Avenue is a wide, beautiful, tree-lined street near the small and lovely Oak Beach, and we are also a 5-minute walk from the Packard Park beach access, which has a pretty boardwalk and viewing area with picnic tables, as well as public bathrooms.
This excellent neighborhood allows you to enjoy both peace and quiet as well as easy access to the water and downtown restaurants and bars. Captain Lou's riverfront bar and restaurant is only a 9-minute walk.
Our house is a calm, beautiful place that encourages rest, relaxation and fun with family and friends. Experience the outdoors and that fresh Michigan lake breeze on the front porch while you people watch, the back patio to grill a meal or enjoy a drink in the shade of the trees or in the enclosed, screened sun porch. Enjoy the warm outdoor shower too!
We have given a lot of thought to how we and how you will enjoy this house. We love the sun porch, a great place for morning coffee, dinner, or just fleeing those famous Michigan mosquitos in the evening.
Play at the beach, walk around town (which is quaint, adorable and very walkable), bike, run or hike the Kal-Haven trail, and then come home to relax at the Sea Maiden. The name of our house comes from a wooden mermaid figurehead that we were very excited to buy on a trip to Maine, but then the mermaid turned out to be too scary (it has red eyes) and we couldn’t find anywhere to hang it—yet! The house was designed by the two of us and made into a reality by Deltec Homes in Asheville, NC. The frame and walls arrived here on bigs trucks of wall panels, and it’s very unique inside and out. We put in cedar wood ceilings throughout (except basement) because we loved that from vacation homes we'd been to as kids.
First and second floor bedrooms have fans and cedar ceilings, all bedrooms have big windows as well as a clock with phone charger. Beds, dressers, and night stands were handcrafted by a local Amish carpenter. Brand new comfy beds and crisp cotton sheets. All bathrooms have hairdryers. The house sleeps 11 in beds, 1 in a pack and play and 1 in a toddler bed, but if you need space for one more child, they could sleep on the comfortable basement couch if you bring your own linens or a sleeping bag (there are many extra pillows and blankets provided throughout the house).

Sunroom/office 2nd floor acts as bedroom for toddler and/or baby.
We have great water pressure, super fast hot water, and big white comfy Supima cotton towels from Authenticity 50!
On the first floor, there is a living room as you enter the house, a half bath, a first floor bedroom, and then down the hall is the great room with the kitchen, dining area, and a sitting room with a three-sided fireplace, a couch and a piano. This room opens to the loft area above and out to the sun porch.
The enclosed, screened sun porch is at the back of the house, just above the back patio, grill area, and backyard.
The second floor opens up into the loft space, then two bedrooms and a sunroom/office with a toddler bed, and desk with leather office chair. The sunroom (black out blinds) has plenty of space for a Pack n' Play, which we can supply as requested, and we also have children's books, a travel high chair, and outlet covers and a door knob cover in the sunroom.
In addition to having another bedroom, the basement has a foosball table and is set up as an extra space to watch TV and play games on rainy days. There is a second full size fridge and freezer to store refreshments, and it's a great place to send the kids after dinner!
We provide the highest speed internet Xfinity offers in the area and two boosters to make sure you have great access throughout the house and outside. We have the following streaming apps: ESPN, Disney +, HBO Max, and Amazon Prime. There are televisions located in the living room, great room, and basement. Every TV has an outlet below in case you would like to bring your game station.
We have 8 very large beach towels, 5 adult beach chairs, 2 child size beach chairs, 2 umbrellas, and beach toys.
The kitchen is stocked with the basics you need to cook such as olive oil, cooking spray, salt and pepper, as well as a range of pots and pans, utensils, etc. There is also an InstantPot. The coffee maker is a 12-cup percolator.
There are two washer-dryers, one set on the second floor and one in the basement, and detergent is provided.
Guests can access all areas of the space with the exception of several locked closets designated for housekeeping and storage, and one room adjacent to the basement bedroom that is used for owner storage and tools.
We will make ourselves available via text or phone for any questions or concerns. There is a local contact person who will be available in case of emergency.
