A vintage vacation awaits you. 32 miles offshore on America's emerald isle, Beaver Island. Unspoiled. Unhurried. Unbelievable! The island is 55 square miles of gravel roads and rustic beauty. When you come to the island, you are getting away from the conveniences that city life offers and enjoying the benefits and beauty of the natural world. If walking in the woods, kicking in the sand, watching the waves and listening to the quiet is what you crave, you will love the island.
Take the ferry or plane from Charlevoix to experience paradise. Updated in 2016, Mr. Moon's Cottage has everything you need to enjoy a vacation on Beaver Island. The home is located on the north end of the island on a quiet street. It is a short walk to the harbor area, restaurants and public beach. It is a bright, clean and comfortable two-story home that sleeps 5 (6 if you use the futon.)
MAIN FLOOR:
The main floor has two bedrooms, each with sky lights and ceiling fans. The master bedroom has a king bed, as well as a sliding glass door leading to a private deck. The second bedroom has a full-size bed. There is a full bathroom, and a half bath which has a laundry room with washer/dryer.
The kitchen is fully equipped including a dish washer. It is open to the living room and the large front deck so the cook can always be a part of the fun, wherever it is happening. There is a Weber gas grill and plenty of seating to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
There is no air conditioning. Typically, we do not need it on the island, The bedrooms and living room have ceiling fans and we have 2 additional standing fans.
LOWER LEVEL:
Take the party downstairs into the large living space. There is a comfy sitting area for watching TV. It is a smart TV (we do not have cable) so you can sign in and use your streaming account. There is also a bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom. Underneath the stairs we have a baby gate, porta crib and booster seat if you need one.
We also have a fire pit out front for all your s'mores and stargazing needs and a gas grill. Bags game too. You can rent bikes, kayaks and paddle boards in town to enjoy the beautiful lake. Firewood bundles can be purchased at the hardware store.

I do recommend having a car to explore the island. Contact bibco.com (Beaver Island Boat Company) for ferry schedule and rates soon ASAP. Getting your car on and off the island may affect your reservation dates. You can bring your car over on the ferry and will need to make a reservation for it. They start taking reservations in January and summer dates fill up quickly as there is limited space for cars.

Keep in mind these are not rental car companies but individuals who rent cars. It is difficult to maintain a clean car when all the roads are gravel and dusty.
The island is 13 miles long and 6 miles wide. If you are content in walking and relaxing in town, you will still have an enjoyable time.
There are online videos and articles about the island history. You may have a richer experience if you spend some time viewing the interesting info that is online. Life slows down here and restores your soul. A visit to Beaver Island is a unique experience...nature feeds you here, not restaurants or shopping.
