This attractive, creeper-clad, restored mill sits at the foot of forest-covered hills near Siena. Its classic architectural features shine – from the stone exterior to the red-brick arches that reveal the two inviting loggias. Sleeping up to 12-14 in six bedrooms, Molino a Brolio is the perfect pad for larger groups of families or friends. The generous living space, including the impressive dining room with its distinctive vaulted ceiling, is ideal for a celebratory get together. The interiors brim with original rustic features – from terracotta-tiled floors and high, beamed ceilings, to some interesting touches such as stone sinks, and light fittings fashioned from wagon wheels. Elegant cypress and olive trees populate the large grounds with plenty of well-kept lawn for children to play on. Our Thoughts This characterful old villa is full of reminders of its former past as a working mill and agricultural property. The owners have incorporated items such as feeding troughs used for feeding the mill’s animals and used them as part of the furniture. The villa’s grounds sprawl across several levels creating blissful places to sit and admire the view or watch children run around on the grass in the privacy of peaceful forest-clad surroundings.
